Vancouver’s Best XLB 💯 . I had heard so much about Long’s Noodle House but could never find my way over to their out of the way location (or they were closed) . I’m so glad I was finally able to try because this dumpling lover gives a big 👍 . Shanghai Dim Sum House in Crystal Mall in Burnaby had been a favorite due the generous soup amount but Long’s Noodle House flavors are better and their ingredients are superior . The XLB remind me of Joe’s Shanghai in NYC with plentiful soup and respectable dumpling skin thickness and tasty pork filling . Pastry Game 💯 . I don’t consider myself a pastry or coffee connoisseur but even I could tell that the Vancouver coffee shop scene is strong . Our stop at Nemesis Coffee proved indicative of how good pastries can be here as we were impressed by almost everything we ordered to share . Dim Sum for Everyone . We ate dim sum multiple times and I was happy to return to Chef Tony in Richmond, BC . When Chef Tony opened in 2019, it upended the dim sum scene with novel dishes and flavor combinations that hadn’t been tried before . Flash forward a few years late and the competition has copied many of the signature dishes (black truffle chicken is at multiple restaurants) and the crowds are more restrained than before . Benedicts 🥚 Galore . Jam Cafe is a popular all-day brunch spot with locations in downtown Vancouver and Victoria . They’re most well known for their variety of eggs Benedict and the fact they don’t take reservations resulting in lines on even weekdays . We stopped by for brunch and luckily the line moves quickly with both limited outdoor and indoor seating available . Service is prompt and quick with the large portions perfect for sharing. Paired with their signature (boozy) drink selection and you can see why the carb heavy brunch spot is a local fave . Food Court Eats 💯 . Richmond, by YVR, gets all the recognition as Chinese food mecca and deservedly so . But Burnaby, an often overlooked suburb to the East featuring Metrotown, is a trending destination . The food court at Crystal Mall is among Vancouver’s best and one stall was even voted the best food court stall in all of Vancouver by the Vancouver Sun (Xiang Yuan Qiao Bridge Rice Noodle) . Comfort Food 💯 . Hong Kong Style Café are the ultimate expression of comfort food . Tasty and accessible, the cuisine features many Western classics reinterpreted for an Asian palate .
