he and toya are the DEFINITION of so close yet so far. same table, but as separated as they possibly could be. akito glancing out of the corner of his eye, because he can’t look toya directly in the face. toya putting a hand up while he’s talking to someone else looks casual, but every art choice is intentional— the back of his hand is facing akito as if to wall him out or keep him physically at arm’s length. even though akito has become successful in his own right, he is still in the background of his own card because TOYA is the one capturing his attention

Trafalgar Law. And Roronoa Zoro. Two characters commonly hyped up as being the perfect examples of like. Cool strong aloof powerhouses or whatever.
When in reality, both of them are sooooo lame and soooooo pathetic (affectionate). They try sooooooo hard to look cool, but Law's a petty, uptight loser nerd who hangs out with a big teddy bear every day. And Zoro doesn't know left from right, is also petty, doesn't wash his ass, definitely an alcoholic. They're both easily embarrassed and they Will throw a public hissy fit when made fun of.
They're both so uncool it hurts, but they successfully fooled all of us into believing they're the resident gigachads and it's SO funny.

flambae is like. actually a bitch. lowkey it feels like hes asking robert to love him where he is and AAA
like, the song is literally about being a difficult person who feels like they cant change and their partner loving them anyway, always seeing the good in them. its clear that robert really cares about people being able to change and rooting for his team. flambae also doesnt really strike me as a guy who like. actually really evil. hes a shit for sure but hes one of the few heros that doesnt have any kind of murder charges, plus if i remember correctly the building was empty when he started blowing it up. yes he is violent, but hes not. like. evil. does that make any sense.
the way he talks sometimes also makes me think hes in therapy and processing stuff alongside becoming a hero. he, understandably, freaks out on robert after learning hes mecha man but like 2 days later shows up to his housewarming party with a gift. granted, he punches him hard enough to knock him on his ass but idk, the way he talked makes me think he booked an emergency session with his therapist and thats why he missed work. also refusing to dance around the topic of chase and trying to get everyone to talk about his feelings.
to me flambae is a guy who is trying really hard to change but feels like he will always be an evil hotheaded bitch.
