"hey, princess. did i miss something or did you miss me?"
considering the most recent of her life, it’s safe to say that gwen has a bit of a trauma with people disappearing from her life for weeks and then suddenly showing up again out of the blue. she looks at jakob like he has grown three heads and though she wants to hug him, she holds herself back. “jakob?”
he knocked at the door to her room -- or what he guessed was her room. "selene. it's me."
his voice sends shivers down her spine, and not for the first time, selene’s sure it’s a dream, something that has manifested to settle her grief and wipe away those tears. yet, she was never really one to be logical, and it doesn’t stop her from swinging open the door in her haste, almost tripping over her feet when she does.
“jakob,” she whispers, breathless, and already, the tears that she’s kept hidden for so long are making its appearance, “how-” she’s a mess, a blubbering mess, and she can barely form a single sentence. but she steps closer, in an attempt to hug him, wanting to feel him in her arms and confirm that he’s there.
what now?
Forgiveness isn’t something Kay would usually do, nor is it a word that rings familiarity. Sure, he has forgiven a few people-- he daily forgives his mother for everything she has done to him and his twin. He gets it, nothing is as bad as crying over spilled milk. But there’s a twisted fact on still seeing the crack on broken puzzled mirrors.
So, having rested on his seat from taking pictures all day, he figures to get rid of the silence between him and his lucky seatmate for today’s Legacy Day.
“How have you been?” he finally asks, eyes still glued on the stage in front of them because he doesn’t want to look at Jakob just yet.

PAST RELATIONSHIP. When Kay and Jakob were close friends.
Half lidded eyes try to scan Jakob’s face with nothing but trust and solace. You know that thing about chick flicks where the boy breaks up with his girl for some apparent reason? Kay thinks he’s the protagonist, for once. But having Jakob beside him, and knowing that they have an unbreakable bond between them (he knows he’ll never be alone) makes his situation less pitiful, but still unbearable.
“Life is so annoying… and the fact that she– she makes it less than a a rubbish that life actually is…” he pauses, drinks, and he starts missing his girl.
Jakob smiles, that set of features that Kay has already memorized. The burden of guilt that swells in Kay’s chest cools a little.
“But you have me, captain”
“Wow, you’re gay”
Despite his reply, Kay would be lying if he says that he isn’t touched. For all that is worth, his heart beats a few seconds, and when he tries to suppress a smile, he fails.
“Whatever, but thanks for being here, Schnee” Kay whispers, it comes off a little weak, but he knows that Jakob can hear it just fine.
“Don’t thank me, I only came for the drinks”
“Yea-- fuck you”
Kay swears and laughs, Jakob laughs too, there has been a built mutual understanding between them. He’s just happy to have Jakob beside him.

it had been two years since selene had seen jakob; two years since she had seen his retreating form disappearing through the dense forest, only to never appear again. she still remembers that day clearly, and although it hurt to draw upon that memory, it was the only way she could remember his face by.
and ever since, selene had been counting down the minutes until she could see her brother again. each letter from him was like a silent reminder that the end was near, that they would meet again.
it had been a month since selene had gotten the letter from jakob to attend ever after, and four days since her mother had agreed to let her go.
now, selene stood in front of the boys’ dorm, unsure whether or not she should just enter. it takes barely a few minutes before selene throws complete caution to the wind and storms straight into the dorm. stopping to grab directions from a slightly confused fellow student, selene avoids the elevator (because what the hell are those things?) and opts to take the stairs instead. standing in front of his room now, she stares at the number on the door: #401.
taking a steady breath, selene raises a hand to knock, letting her fist fall against the wood softly. she waits for the door to swing open with bated breath.

Fire. There was a time Erik was furious. His magic had made everyone around him claustrophobic, his midnight blue magic weighing down the air like a suffocating mist.
Then it happened, blue flames rolled off him and the house burnt down in seconds. Those within became ashes, and he walked back home nonchalant.
That kid forgot to invite Fay to his birthday party. Fay had been crushed, she had been slightly smitten.
It was the kid’s last birthday.
