Rhett Is Going Solo
I keep seeing weird misinformation going around along the lines of ‘Rhett kept his project secret from Link for three years!!’ which simply isn’t true? So I’ve clipped a few bits of the eb together where they were talking about it (they talk about it in about the last half hour and you can only put 10 min clips up here so its not everything of course) ✌️
tl;dr - Rhett: Not that we didn’t talk about it, not that you didn’t know about it, but it wasn’t like hey lets sit down and hash this thing out because in some ways...there was nothing to hash out
link's reaction to rhett's single.
The genesis of Ronstadt was messy.

Rhett Is Going Solo
...
This was such a great EB. I feel much better about everything after having watched it. You can see that Rhett really wanted Link to like the song. He wanted to make sure it was all done and shiny and pretty before he let him hear it so Link could have the best shot of liking it. And then to hear Link's analysis of the music and the sound. He loves it. And how many times did he say how excited he is about it? Boy loves it. The whole Ronstadt convo was very interesting and shed some light on their thoughts about solo projects. And how Link may have changed from an earlier mindset. My favorite bit was how Link is taking inspiration from Rhett doing something on his own to allow himself to entertain the thought of doing something just for him. Yes. Do that. 💙
My only complaint is that Rhett equates them singing harmony together with them doing comedy music, and that them singing together on his solo album would 'cheapen' both types of projects. I could not disagree more about that. I know I am not alone in pining for them to release some 'serious' music with those gorgeous harmonies truly showcased like they should be. The MS releases are great but small and limited and even the last one they tried to push it in a more comedic direction. Boys, we want to hear you sing beautiful things together. And this could've been the perfect opportunity. Sad face. ☹️
EB producers hate me. All of them. 😭

Rhett's rec in this week's eb was of course his debut single as James and the Shame !
Believe Me is available everywhere you get music now.
James and the Shame also has a dedicated artist page on Spotify you can follow, and a YouTube channel with the lyric/music video for Believe Me out now.
If somehow you had not heard/seen about Rhetts music project, I encourage you to give it a listen, even if you aren't sure it'll be for you. I've seen plenty of comments from people saying that even though they don't like country music, or even though they can't relate to the deconstruction element, they still liked this song, so you might to!
This episode of ear biscuits is giving me a stomach ache 🙃 I wasn't expecting link to get so real about his abandonment issues and how this triggered them. When he said he would've preferred to know about the album earlier my stomach sank. Poor boy. I'm glad they had an honest discussion about it though.
