I remember I was a part of the enderbees community, probs one of the earliest blogs on there but it’s been about four years and I cannot remember my username for the life of me tbh. I think I still I’m in a small discord server on my old account with my enderbees friends but I haven’t looked at it in years since I went to university and started going outside.
But I do remember the community was started by a post by an account called (from what I can recall) tubbounderscore saying that it was weird that people insisted Ranboo and Tubbo were straight just because they hadn’t confirmed their sexualities, that /p-ing something doesn’t make it not shipping, and so on and so forth. The other blogs like mcyttruth followed shortly after but we were preceded by people like georgesoot and georgeeehd (was a big lurker I hope they both know I thought they were very funny and largely correct).
I think the community partially started to fracture when my friends and I thought the absolute hatred some of the big blogs had of ranboo and how they infantilised tubbo was kind of unfair and unnecessary. I remember I did act kind of dramatic with my posts about it, but retrospectively I stand by that they probably should have been a bit more charitable to ranboo and not treated tubbo like a breakable little baby? I remember the ringleaders of this were blogs like hetboo/sunny.
Someone ended up connecting a 14 year old in our discord to a ‘poppytwt’ account and acting like we were covering this persons tracks even though none of us had any idea about it until we saw it on tumblr. My friends and I decided to forgive this person because they said they had deactivated and were working on themselves, I don’t remember much beyond that about that person but I think it is crazy to act like forgiving a young teenager for writing cringe smut of a creator who’s older than them is the same thing as harbouring a predator tbh. We were super cautious about leaks and infiltration from the other side of ebblr/critblr from the discord, and I remember throwing up since I had shared my face and my school on the private server and knew that those blogs could leak them if they wanted.
Ultimately I think ebblr was a horrible place for my mental health. I was going through a lot personally with being stuck in an abusive household at the time and being ranboos biggest defender alongside worrying about being doxxed just made it worse. Looking back I’m really glad I decided to drop all that stuff entirely upon going to university and realising that I had better things to do with my life, although I hope all my old friends from the time are doing well! I think that the whole ordeal taught me a lot.
Sorry if this ask is useless but I decided to check what had being going on in the fandom recently and it brought back lots of memories.
thank you for your perspective! it's not useless at all, i think that secret/isolated subgroups can really easily foster unsafe or unhealthy environments. outside harassment, however well intentioned, can serve to make them even worse. i'm very grateful that you shared your perspective, i think it's a valuable insight into that particular corner of mcytblr! it deserves to be archived, the same as everything else :)
