Story time under the cut ^.^

I think it is fairly well known that Erel didn’t grow up with a lot of money, and her family struggled a lot to make ends meet. Her ambitions, however, were no rival to their situation and she made the decision to further her art of magic. Like most things, that cost a lot of money so her mother had to find a way to make it happen. That method turned out to be loaning from some of the meanest money lenders in the area, putting faith that a better income would come out of Erel’s education. Meanwhile, Erel’s mother told her that she had been saving up the money to send her off, instead of telling Erel the truth that she indebted herself to make her dreams come true. After her first year, Erel decided that the education wasn’t worth the money, and thought that it would be put to better use in her mother’s possession. However, the money was already borrowed, and could not be returned. When she returned home and learned the truth, she confronted the money lenders and convinced them to place the debt on herself instead of her mother to save her from breaking her back working to pay it back. Erel scrambled for a job to earn that money back, but was turned down time and time again. She grew desperate, and resorted to extremes to fix her problem that was steadily and very quickly growing into a larger and larger debt. She ended up working with a shady gang of mercenaries that were given a contract involving protecting a shipment of some very illegal cargo. The trip went absolutely wrong, and they ended up getting attacked by law officials. She bailed, afraid of getting in trouble with the law, but not before nearly caught. Now, she was in huge trouble with the lenders, the gang that she abandoned, and the law. In a panic, Erel ran off to Sharn, where she met the crew that she now works with. Their mission allowed for her to go far away from those trying to chase her, an income to pay her debt, and a chance to make things right. Shortly after her joining, she still feared being recognized, so she cut her hair (and maybe dyed it? idk I haven’t decided). To this day, she still carries the guilt of her stupid decision to abandon schooling  and in turn, running her family even more into their pit.

Can you tell me a little bit(or a lot) about Erel's childhood? Thanks a bundle!

Erel grew up in poverty as a half-drow in a predominately human population, so she stood out fairly easily, and drew a lot of attention. However, she didn’t like the attention she was receiving considering it consisted of distrustful sideways glances or rude comments muttered under their breath coupled with spitting. She didn’t allow for that to get in her way, and followed her ambitions to the Arcanix to further her abilities and maybe actually get somewhere in life and take her and her mother out of their financial rut. So yeah, not a very happy childhood, but she still wouldn’t have it any other way except for maybe the money problem, because she hates to see her mother struggle and suffer just to get by.
