July 1st. Spearfish SD
Nice day today, cool morning and heading to the low 80s. Played pickleball with another Tiffin couple, keeping the social distancing thing going.
Then we drove over to the quiet, sleepy town of Sturgis. Had lunch and some beer at Knuckles brewery. Then we walked around the town. Very quiet as the sturgis event is still 6 weeks away (and yes, it is happening).
Then back at the park we had to go on generator as they cut power to try and fix the electrical issue. The electrician says it is a ground leak, probably a nick in the wire underground. The park put a 3rd rig in the space that was supposed to be blocked so I had it out with the manager. He admitted that he had no plan for what to do if this is a long term repair. I told him that he needed to block the now empty site on the other side of us and I could plug in there. We will see.
Tomorrow we head to Hill City for more Mickelson trail.
June 25th, South Sioux city NE
Oops missed blogging yesterday.
Yesterday we rode the bikes from the park over the Missouri river to Iowa and followed the river bike path north. It runs about 8 miles and is a nice ride. The trail follows the Missouri then follows the Sioux river. It is about 8 miles long.
Once we got back to downtown we rode into town and had lunch at the Milwaukee wiener house. D had hotdogs and I had a cheeseburger. Really cheap and good food, plus they let Bella on the patio.
Today it is much hotter and starting to get stickier. We got up early to play pickleball at the courts here at the city park but they are locked. Yet the YMCA is open...go figure. So we went bike riding instead.
We went on the same trail as yesterday. This time we we got to the end we kept going on River road until we saw a bridge crossing the Sioux river into south Dakota. As soon as we crossed the bridge we were greeted by at least 14 casinos.
This afternoon we visited 2 breweries. The first was Brioux (get it?) Which was more of a dive bar and just ok beer.
Then we went to Jackson brewery and they had some really good sours including a fruit one that was so full of fruit it was like a milk shake. We took home some bottles and Crowlers to try a few more. Interesting that the first brewery was not practicing any Covid precautions but Jackson was.
Another storm coming in tonight hopefully it stays mostly away from us and it will continue to heat up.
29/7.2023 - new car! we went electric!
