Sometimes you just gotta tell your abusive childhood figure to go fuck themselves
One of the fun parts of writing a book is being able to draw the characters.
This Echo Rain from my book Trepidation. He belongs on the darker side of the morally grey scale.
I will never be drawing again in this style
Reviewed: Echo Rain
Echo Rain are a four-piece band from Brighton, who mash up pop hooks with metal guitars and hard breakdowns - and they are coming to a town near you.
CF Verdict:
Echo Rain are based in Brighton, a town renowned for it’s pebble beaches, piers and tooth-breaking rock. These lads are making a name for themselves with a very different type of rock and here at Commercial Free, we think it will stick.
Rock is in no need of a Renaissance, it has solidly moshed on down the decades, yet it is fantastic to see these four guys throw themselves into the scene and put out some intriguing and dynamic music. Power chords a-plenty, gravelly-voiced shout-singing and hard-hitting snares, Echo Rain segue from the classic Rock thrashing to near-Metal noodling, each part fluent as it is devastating.
It is soothing that Echo Rain can break up the pace and break their sound while each song remains packed with grit and panache, while never sounding over-crowded or overreaching. From their demo to the newly-release EP, it is clear that this brash quartet can muck in and make some noise with the big boys, but also retain the melodic core that sets them apart from the pack.
The band are currently touring around the UK and if they are in your area, we suggest you check them out.

Echo Rain – You know what they say…. EP Release
Now this is a band that deserves far more credit than they get! Brighton based boys Echo Rain, with their pop punk riffs and relatable teen lyrics that demand attention! What’s not to love?
There upcoming EP release of ‘You Know What They Say..’ contains, by far, some of the best pop punk records I’ve heard come out the UK in a long time. With similar sounds to that of American giants Four Years Strong and the rawness of an old You Me at Six you know these guys are heading for great things and boy am I backing them all the way!
Songs on the new release I’d listen out for are tunes such as the heavier ‘coming up or air’ with banging choruses and the power of two singers gives it such a brilliant quality and unique sound. Also, ‘always the quiet ones’ which boasts softer tones without lacking that sing along pop punk feel not to mention a guitar solo (which personally gets and immediate thumbs up from me) Just sayin’. This EP is perfect to listen to all summer long, with the catchiest lyrics and melodies any fan could ask for. It definitely doesn’t disappoint!
If you like what you hear from these guys they start off their UK tour with an EP launch in their hometown (good news for me!) and then head across the country hitting up cities like Sheffield, Edinburgh and Southampton plus plenty more so make sure you don’t miss out! I will leave you with ER’s brand new video which should leave you smiling for at least the rest of the day! WATCH IT!
(Echo Rain - ‘You Know What They Say…’ is available to download from April 29th and don’t miss the E.P Launch Party the same night at The Prince Albert in Brighton!)
