Just wrote an amazing scene. A well-deserved moment of uncomplicated happiness between the two main characters, showing a tender side of them we never before got to see.
Unfortunately it would have to take place several years after the end of the novel it belongs to and therefore will never see the light of day. But believe me, it is beautiful.
It only takes one lie to break someones trust.
“Are you alright?”
“...yes. I told you.”
They had been wandering the thick forests beyond the eternal holy city for a few days now, following the trail of the monster that was terrorizing the area and that the citizens of Dolos had pleaded for the knight to strike down. Little was known about it other than it was plant-like and omitted a strange scent only hybrids seemed to pick up on, causing...peculiar reactions in some of them. The knight wasn't entirely sure what was meant by that. The feline dolosian elder did not elaborate, quick to talk about the rewards.
Phainon’s eyes had searched his companion’s when the elderly man handed him a sealed crimson leaf. If it affected hybrid people...wouldn’t it be unsafe for him as well-?
The wolf hybrid shook his head as if he could read his thoughts and reached for the small bottle to uncork it and take a quick whiff. I’ll be fine. Let’s go.
He was not fine. Phainon could clearly tell by the increase of grunts and huffs Reaver tried to bite down. He wasn’t very talkative to begin with but he was so preoccupied to muffle his noises as to not alert Phainon that he had fallen completely silent safe for a few muttered words to navigate them through the forest. The knight suspected they were on the right track yet regret had started to trickle in with every suppressed noise of discomfort behind him. Reaver had taken just a small whiff back in Dolos to pick up the trail and merely made a face. But now the lingering scent in the forest grew strong enough to affect him and it worried the knight.
When Reaver failed to hold back a whimper this time, Phainon could no longer take it and abruptly came to a halt.
He was about to whirl around and suggest the wolf hybrid stay back and let him deal with the monster alone. After all, he didn't know what kind of effects it had on hybrids and he refused to expose him to it any longer and maybe even risk his life. If just the residue of its scent was enough to affect Reaver... He didn't want to find out what a direct encounter could do.
However, Reaver noticed too late that the knight had stopped walking and bumped right into his back. If Phainon had been a smaller and less fit man there was no doubt this would have been enough to knock him over and into the grass; Reaver was quite large and bulky after all.
The small bit of pride that had flared up in him vanished the moment he felt something hard nudge against his body.
Despite his picture perfect looks and behavior to the public eye, Phainon was no innocent man nor oblivious. He had read his fair amount of erotica to count one and one together. The plant monster. The strange scent. The way the elderly Dolosian’s eyes had darted around when he mentioned mysterious effects on hybrids. Reaver’s increased labored breathing and muffled groans. The very large, very prominent evidence grinding subtly into his back for friction. This was straight out of a C.Rice novel. And his resulting nightly fantasies when he had no one but his own two hands but that was a different topic for a different time.
Usually, the wolf hybrid would have retreated and mutter an apology. But he was still pressed against the knight’s back, nosing at his hair, hips bucking up in slow, subtle movements, seeking relief. Phainon felt a familiar heat spread from where their bodies were touching, traveling through his body, crawling up his neck and settling low in his stomach. He swallowed audibly and asked once more: “Reaver, are you alright?”
A few seconds passed and it felt like hours. Then he felt the wolf hybrid’s arm curl around his waist and pull him in closer, subtly adjusting his body like he was merely a toy for his pleasure and the knight’s eyes almost fluttered close. Reaver bent his head, lips brushing against a hot ear.
“...yes…I told you.”
Phainon bit his lip. His thoughts scattered and raced with every slow, delicious grind but he forced himself to focus and decide his next step.
He decided to...
ask Reaver to stay behind and ride this out alone while he keeps going forward
rest here and take thorough "care" of Reaver
The Sharpest Anchor
Chapter 4
Word count: 3562
Summary: The morning mist finds the Going Merry drifting in a quiet lagoon while Y/N recovers in the infirmary.
Warning: This post may cause a sudden urge to protect the small doctor at all costs.
The following morning, the violent shudders of the ship had settled into a low, rhythmic vibration. The Merry was still drifting, the silver mist pressing against the infirmary porthole in a flat, featureless gray.
Inside the small cabin, the air was warm and smelled of cedarwood and the faint, sharp tang of a fresh medicinal salve. Chopper was standing on his tip-hooves at the end of the bed, his tongue poking out of the corner of his mouth as he tried to adjust the heavy wool blanket that had slipped during the night. He was moving with exaggerated care, trying not to make a single sound, but his small hooves clicked stubbornly against the floorboards.
Y/N watched him through half-closed eyes, her head resting comfortably on the pillow. She had been awake for a few minutes, watching the little doctor work himself into a quiet frenzy of caretaking.
"You're going to strain your back reaching like that," Y/N said softly, her voice much clearer than it had been the night before.
Chopper let out a tiny squeak, his ears snapping upright as he nearly fell off his hooves. "You're awake! I was just……the thermal regulation of the lower extremities is vital for–"

THE ATMOSPHERE AFTER THE MMA Awards performances and awards was one of enormous tumult and excitement; many fans were still agitated and many of the groups were already saying goodbye and taking advantage of the moment to interact with each other ─ this moment that in the end always generated a lot of lively buzz among the fandom, often strengthening fans of different groups.
The BoyNextDoor group, being so energetic and friendly, greeted each group at every step they took. Most of the brief topics were about how amazing the event had been once again and comments on the various performances that beautifully presented themselves.
But something Leehan longed for most was interaction with his group ─ more specifically, an interaction with you, even if it was quick or just an exchange of glances, that would be more precious than any prize he could win.
Taesan, who was beside him, noticed how his group mate looked anxiously to the sides, back and a little forward. He noticed how Leehan's feet slightly raised to see any movement of someone specific, which Leehan had always made clear how lost he was between that person.
The corner of Taesan's lips lifted slightly in a mocking smile and he moved a little closer to Leehan, murmuring:
"You'll break your neck if you keep looking for her like that."
"If it's to see her..."
Leehan didn't flinch, he just let out a small laugh and shook his head, pushing him lightly as he continued his slightly desperate search, because neither of them could leave without at least meeting each other.
It was then that your bright eyes captured her figure, which, even from afar, already gave you a complete adrenaline rush. You walked with your arm around Minju's arm, a close member of your group, while you greeted some other groups and interacted with each other briefly as you moved along.
Leehan's heart was in turmoil and his mind kept saying "come soon", as if he actually had some control over your approach. The desire to have you close was almost uncontrollable, but he couldn't get lost from the group at any cost, even if the desire to have you close soon disturbed him.
The footsteps of the two groups approached and Leehan had already straightened his posture and cleared his throat as you and your group approached. The two groups bowed respectfully to each other, and you did too, to all the other members ── but oops, not to him.
The various cameras - both from fans and from the show itself - managed to capture your excitement as you waved to Leehan in a slightly agitated and playful way, a smile present on both of your faces as you passed each other. Through the camera, it was possible to see you and the girls from Illit exchanging light giggles afterwards and one of them pushing you slightly because of the smile you clearly couldn't hide.
With Leehan, it wasn't much different. It seemed like just seeing you was the way to go, and that's definitely no exaggeration; another smile crept across his lips as he chatted with some members and greeted other groups.
That didn't go unnoticed by you, by other members - who were divided between greeting the others and teasing them for the still-present idiotic smile - and by the cameras. Maybe from gossip on other days? Very likely, but who cares if you at least had a little meeting? Oh, that was enough.
LEEHAN SMILED AS HE BROUGHT his hand to your face, his eyes taking in every close detail he longed to see after all the introductions. You smiled, and your eyes strayed for a moment to another corner of the silent room, which only contained the light breathing of the two.
"No need to be shy..." He murmured, his thumb gently stroking her cheek. "Darling."
Your stomach churned a little and you bit the bottom corner of your lip, which made his smile grow a little wider ─ and wow, what a smile.
"Do you like it when I call you that? Do you like it, darling?" Leehan asked again, leaving his arms around Y/N's waist, who had her arms around his neck.
She nodded and turned her eyes to him, the corner of her lips lifting in a small smile as her ears burned. Leehan let out a small laugh and leaned in to place a simple kiss on her collarbone.
He turned his eyes to her again and said,
"It took me a while to shake off the boys." He pouted.
You laughed a little at the sincerity in his words.
"I couldn't find you," she replied, watching him lower his face to her neck. You felt slight shivers run through your body as you felt his even breathing against your skin. You reached out and ran a hand through his smooth, soft hair, twirling a few strands between your fingers.
He sniffed a little, lifting his face.
"You took a while to greet the other groups. I thought we wouldn't see each other all night," he confessed.
You stared at him for a few seconds before looking away and letting yourself laugh again at the pout on his lips. You stood on your tiptoes for a moment and then brought your lips, still covered in lip gloss, to Leehan's, in a simple, brief peck—something he not only craved, but once he'd won, it felt like he'd won the entire night all over again.
"That's it?" Leehan complained, a playful smile flickering between his lips.
You rolled your eyes with an amused smile as you leaned in for another kiss. He held your waist tightly and squeezed lightly, almost as if asking you to stay there, together as you'd wanted all night.
When you pulled away, breathing heavily, Leehan placed the last kisses on your eyes, then on your chin, jaw, and finally on the corner of your lips.
"I really wanted to see you, dear."
"Me too, baby."
Maybe my heart is an empty vessel, waiting and yearning to be filled with the weight of your presence.Come soon, fill me with you,my love
