I just realized that Cyclops might be the least educated out of the o5… which seems crazy considering everyone thinks he’s a smartass, but it might be true. I assume he had some form of schooling at the orphanage, but I doubt it was at the level of the others’ schools, considering the orphanage was in the middle of Nowhere, Nebraska. And I doubt Sinister wanted Scott to be smart, considering the mental blocks he placed in his mind.
Bobby went to a school on Long Island, Jean was taught by Xavier and presumably more, Warren went to a fancy religious school, Hank is Hank. Scott grew up in an orphanage and then lived with Jack Winters when he was maybe 15-16 before meeting Xavier. (this is making me sad oh no)
Yes, he educated himself at the orphanage and all, but that’s certainly different from the things the others experienced. His awkwardness with the team and later social/relationship struggles make perfect sense considering he hadn’t gone to a proper school, literally had no long-term positive relationships in his life, and his general “unique personality” (autism).
Anyways, this came up cause I saw a fic of Scott tutoring Warren in the early days and realized that he didn’t have the qualifications to do that. I feel like he knows some history, a lot of geometry, and middle school basics for everything else. Idk it just got me thinking about the disconnect between his background and the others and how that affects how they interact.

yep it is!! the working title I have at the moment is The Ballad of Deja Vu, though it's very susceptible to change in the future. The general gist is that this entire story is a retelling of a hero who failed and is given a second chance. He is sent back in time by a mysterious figure (who may or may not be connected to a certain side character in one of the mainline games), basically transferring some of his consciousness into his younger body. The real story begins when Link is 11, Zelda is 12 and Ganon is 14 and plays out through three distinct "acts" or sections of the story as the characters age and progress. Link has only fragmented memories of his doomed timeline while in his child body, all of which are projected to him via his dreams by our beloved Mysterious Lady. The story follows him as he travels to certain locations around the kingdom to gather assets that will hopefully aid him when the time finally comes to combat Ganon. But is it really worth it? I mean, Ganon's not evil *now*, he's just a promising Gerudo prodigy, right? ahaha or is he...??.
