Davina has her head in the clouds - she’s a dreamer. And, in her heart of hearts, she wishes others would see others for their heart as opposed to their ‘supernatural status.’ The reason she agreed to be on the list of humans to be paired was because she wanted to help the rest of the human population to see as she did. They were all Earth’s inhabitants, and they all deserve to be treated equally. Her ideals may seem a little too liberal for some, but Davina sees no reason to use any type of label to separate people into groups. She believes in judging people for who they are and not what they are. She also uses her dreamer personality to escape her own demons by imagining a world where people couldn’t be evil enough to wish harm upon anyone else. It, at times, makes her entirely naive, because she forgets that her worlds are not always reality, and it tends to get her into trouble when she runs into the wrong person.

This may be an odd choice, due to it’s medieval folk-ish vibe and ghostly war implied lyrics, but I have my reasons for choosing it (other than the fact that it’s a beautiful song). I take from the song that it’s talking about two interchangeable things, the summoning and “necessity” of war and the loss and destruction that follows said summoned war. --- 

“Dark the oceans, dark the sky. Hush the whales and the ocean tide. Tell the salt marsh and beat on your drum. Gone their master, gone their son.”

How does this relate to Marlene when she’s never actually experienced an actual war first hand? The reason I choose this song for her is because it is a scope into the world through her eyes. The whole damn planet is a cesspool of war and destruction, it’s loud and bright -- but silent and dark. We fight over the things we love, until we lose them ---

“What brings us together is what pulls up apart.”

and when they’re gone, they’re gone. 

It’s is Marlene’s life goal to rid the destruction and loss, the hunger and pain of the world, to bring opposing sides together --- even if she has to single-handedly do it herself. It all sounds very naive but that is because Marlene is very naive, but stubborn.

As far as American singers go, Sara Bareilles is one of her favourites. Her son Brave, in particular, is one she listens to every morning without fail; it is her alarm, after all. Her best friend who passed away, was the one who showed her the song, and it was the first song she sang when Meagan finally convinced her to do karaoke. Her entire life, Noah has been quiet and reserved, afraid to show who she was; afraid to speak, for fear of more teasing about her accent. This song reminds her every day that she should embrace who she is - accent and all - and not shy away from making new friends. Even though it’s still a work in progress, she really is trying to be a more confident person, unafraid of who she is.

We cut the legs off of our pants. Throw our shoes into the ocean. The wanderlust and pure happiness of the song speaks directly to Sawyer’s spirit, and her nearly carefree approach to her surroundings. She’s always carried the ideal self freedom, to make anywhere her home, and act freely and foolishly (in good conscience) to enjoy her surroundings and the people around her. I hope that someday I'll see without these frames. And as she explores the world, or even a small portion of it, she wants to know it with unbiased mind, witness its potential unfold (hopefully for the better) and see it anew with the knowledge, experience and understanding she’s gained in her journey. Without looking further into the lyrics, the music is at its core happy and vibrant with life; the Water Sprite is nothing less at any time, how could the song not be her?

ft. Red Lips by GTA feat. Sam Bruno (Skrillex Remix)

Don’t let her smile fool. Don’t let her eyes confuse. Red lips always lie. Though Andromeda is rare to use lipstick, the same warning is given to any who encounter her. The woman attempts to maintain a public persona: assured but slightly vulnerable, kind but stern. It’s the ideal that she is someone who can handle herself but still has her own weaknesses. But behind her smile is the truth of a wicked woman who places weapons in wealthy hands, a businesswoman who encourages them to shoot with little regard to the target. It is recommended that few trust her, that few believe the moments she seems vulnerable and easy prey... but who would know better with a sweet curve to her lips and wide eyes full of wonder and expectation?

Despite his age, it is still difficult to describe Henry as a man. He is constantly stuck in the fond memories of his childhood, although the people he shared them with have long passed and he has grown since their time. Like the narrator, he recalls the thoughts with the bittersweet-ness of knowing the relationship is no longer obtainable. And the neighborly, sleeping in a coffin. There’s a promise he might meet with his parents again, but like the song, he’s at the brink of accepting it’s time to take his own footsteps and set sail. He will be able live for himself without worry about dishonoring their memory and be the man who is living for himself and the present world around him.

ft. Claws by Son Lux

Silas, since the idea of his creation, was meant to be a distorted and disoriented figure: capable of the kindest and cruelest acts with little control. Cruel and innocent, collected and detached, his unstable mind can’t assure him a single day of consistency. Although Claws has few words to its lyrics, the repetition and fluctuation of the voice instills different emotions into each line-- fear, dark humor, anger, regret-- all of which Silas encounters when facing the mess he is without knowing who has control next: a memory of the past, his own corrupted nature, or the being that made him this way. To add the music exemplifies Silas’ distorted and tampered mind with the sing-song innocence of a child-like taunt, and a haunting beat interrupted by blares and chimes making the whole feeling of it nervous, bittersweet. The claws are buried deep into Silas’ mind. What chance is there getting them out now?

To find a song more fitting of Sebastian would be near impossible. Toes is heavily descriptive to the wild nature and desires hidden behind the guise of a man. Sebastian is purely that: a man, a twisted fool, crooked in his nature but upright. It should never be doubted, Sebastian is a kind and generous man, adamant to maintain his moral code, and can wear his heart on his sleeve without realizing it. And all I ever want, is just a little love... And all I ever want is breaking me apart. Yet the caring man is cold beneath the surface-- a second nature hidden away that denies-- a black-hooved devil in his own right adorned with a smile.
