🌆 Eclipse City / A Brief History of the StrangeVerse // 🌆

So far Dilemma and I have posted the comprehensive guides of various OCs for Dragonflex (with more to come and from the other stories that take place in SV). The colourful mermaid has been hard at work drawing all of these characters, is why I wanna start putting out 'A Brief History' posts that provide bite-sized chunks of the deeper lore within SV. So here we go...

Eclipse City isn't just the primary setting of Dragonfly & Reflex. It's a crossroads for many of the plots layered into the Strangeverse. The city itself is built on the island of Infula which is located off the east coast of North America. Infula is the 51st state of the USA and is considered the most advanced society on the planet. It’s often referred to as a Modern Metropolis, and is home to latest advancements in technology, medicine and entertainment media, it’s centre and inner districts more densely packed and busy while the suburbs sitting on the outskirts are a lot more open and pleasant. Roanoke Ridge, a small town outside of EC sits neighbouring it on the same island and is often mistaken for being part of the larger, sprawling city by outsiders and tourists.

This achievement is primarily thanks to Morton Incorporated, a leading pillar of industry that has brought many technological and scientific breakthroughs to the modern world. Before Eclipse City however Infula had once been the seat of the Atlantean Empire. The legend of Atlantis is rooted deep in Eclipse City's heritage which is widely used as a tourist attraction. The tale of the Atlantean and the Mermaid is a commonly told and loved in the city’s culture, seen by many as a fairy tale telling of the founding of Infula, and this being a big reason why menfolk and water is integrated as part of the city’s general culture. Many bars, clubs and other entertainment establishments within EC take on the marine theme to pay tribute to this, one most well known is the Atlantis Casino And Resort, a huge resort within the more wealthy central district of the city.

People from all across the globe visit Eclipse City to experience its vibrant culture, advanced living conditions, and exotic beaches. Come for the street food, stay for the myriad of alleged mermaid sightings. Atlantis remains just that though, a legend. At least that is what the United Nations of Supernatural Interests (UNSI) wants the general public to continue believing.

Morton Inc. is headquartered in EC and the island metropolis has prospered beneath the corporation's immediate influence. Traveling towards the northern region of Infula will take you out of the big city and into a charming countryside. The Supernatural Protection Agency (SPA) have a Division set up on the island that is dedicated to ensuring there exists a blissful harmony between citizens and the local Supernatural and Cryptid population.

But even what seems to be an advanced island paradise does possess a seedy underbelly. Such as the powerful Lòng crime family. Infula is also the host of the offshore SPA Maximum Security Penitentiary used as a rehabilitation site for lawbreakers and dangerous individuals of a supernatural status. Many outskirt and industrial districts within the city are also less wealthy and life here can be incredibly tough for its poor residents, crime rates here being at a dangerous high.

With no memories and too many questions, she begins digging into a city ruled by three mythological overseers determined to keep its secrets buried.
