Joanne Mcneil’s written piece, After the Eclipse on Paragon Hill, felt the most relatable to me at this point in time, obviously not in a literal sense, and I would love to see a visual interpretation of it, whether in the form of short film, comics, or a single illustration. The fact that I checked out the exhibition after the eclipse instead of before probably had something to do with this. Pieces like Rosa Menkman’s, Eric Mast’s, and Andrew Benson’s still feel relatable but more anticipatory, like back at the point where most of us had never seen or reacted to a solar eclipse in person. They nostalgically capture the feeling of getting “hyped up,” at least for me. Now that I’ve already had the experience, any representation as opposed to the actual eclipse feels sort of anticlimactic, despite still being awesome.
