dbl amnesia au in which when shadowvanilla settle down for the cottage lifestyle, everyone is, understandably, out looking for them. Two powerful beings gone? In an instant? At the same time? Soemthing *mustve* happened. And I think of all the people to find them first, Black Sapphire would stumble upon this, realize quite quickly that neither of them remember anything, and actually, kind of just… keep quiet about the whole thing. Hell, he might even settle nearby to keep an eye on them and see if smilk remembers anything by seeing or interacting with him, but all he sees is a man who is very happy with his new situation with no hints that he might even recall who he might’ve been beforehand.

if anyone else comes along, depending on who it is that arrives, black sapphire may even run interference to make sure others don’t mess with them and try to purposefully jog their memories since whatever they’ve got going on seems to be working for them, even IF he really wants his master back. And I’m sure smilk isn’t entirely unlike his old self… he’s just different now. Calmer. Happier for sure with pure vanilla being the optimistic cookie he is.

Speaking of, shadowvanilla probably make for fairly nice neighbors, and they play off each other like an old couple with their fond bickering. Probably like the grandparents people wish they had: a doting pure vanilla who’s more than happy to share extra produce and bring over food, a silly smilk who’ll happily spin yarn and tell stories about whatever he’s made up and who’ll take your side in arguments, and the both of them will sit out on their porch for tea for break or in the evening and be sociable to anyone who passes.

They deserve their peace and their homey habit even if it only lasts for a little bit, and it’ll be something they surely won’t be able to forget should their original memories ever do return

Apologies for how long the first ask was cause I didn’t realize how much I’d written till you posted but! I’m back! with more potential hits for the In A Different Life AU:

I can imagine a moment where black sapphire might think smilk is returning, where he has the same manic laughter and wide grin on his face and he gets all excited and goes to see what made him regain his memories and— it’s a completely false alarm. All smilk had done was put on an act while chasing a small cookie around and is only swinging said cookie around as it squeals in delight and black sapphire is struck by how much it reminds him of candy apple and he doesn’t know why he’s so overcome with emotions and has to leave the scene distraught

When other cookies who knew shadowvanilla prior to their amnesia approach one of them with knowledge of who they are, they immediately assume that based off how these new cookies know who they are but they don’t know them, the newcomers must be friends/family of the other (ex when black sapphire and candy apple appear, shadow milk presumes they know about him because pv must’ve sent them letters talking about him; when white lily and the main cast appear, pv presumes smilk was bragging about him somewhere (as he is now prone to do without a reason to hold a grudge against pv) and know of him that way) and this greatly confuses everyone… but since shadowvanilla are so easy going and insistent about the whole thing it makes it hard for anyone to really object.

I can also imagine that since their memories are gone, they look at the soul jams on their outfits and realize this is maybe really important? And shouldn’t be worn on their person doing physical labor, and so they instead have them displayed side by side on the wall next to each other somewhere in their home and to everyone who knows them and has to walk in and see that, they find it a sickeningly romantic thing and are almost embarrassed just looking at it despite shadowvanilla’s nonchalance of it all

cries as i post this despite rlly wanting to draw something along to the image of black sapphire thinking shadow milk is back only to realize it was just a false alarm, then hit with candy apple memories UAGAGHHHHH

Honestly I’ve wanted to read some more cultivation novels and have had trouble figuring out exactly where to begin, but knowing that a book actually goes into the details of the craft makes me much more compelled to read that one cause I love when books go into the specifics like that :D like yes give me those pseudo science explanations, let me know exactly what’s at stake in the most quantifiable means you can

YOU GET IT!!! i am such a sucker for explaining magic and fantasy elements, how they work considering the mechanics of the world. So Much Satisfaction and brainstorming and ideas ahhh

there are ofc some skipped or summarised parts in liu yao, which makes sense considering that you can't really follow every single step of a journey that lasts many tens of years xD Also imo at least the basics of xianxia (and wuxia) are needed, like the general idea of ascension and the "levels" before it, sword riding, qi and its fluctuations (like qi deviation), righteous vs demonic cultivation etc.
