विश्वका प्रमुख शक्तिराष्ट्रहरूबीच प्रतिस्पर्धा र तनाव बढ्दै जाँदा विभिन्न देशका सरकारहरूले आर्थिक सुरक्षा तथा आपूर्ति शृंखलाको आत्मनिर्भरतामा विशेष जोड दिन थालेका छन्। पछिल्ला वर्षहरूमा देखिएका अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय संकट, व्यापारिक विवाद र भूराजनीतिक अस्थिरताले धेरै राष्ट्रलाई आफ्नो आर्थिक संरचना थप सुरक्षित बनाउन प्रेरित गरेको हो।

विशेषगरी ऊर्जा, प्रविधि, अर्धचालक (सेमिकन्डक्टर), खाद्यान्न तथा अत्यावश्यक कच्चा पदार्थको आपूर्तिमा बाह्य निर्भरता घटाउने नीति विभिन्न देशहरूले अघि सारेका छन्। यसका लागि स्वदेशी उत्पादन विस्तार, वैकल्पिक आपूर्ति स्रोतको खोजी तथा रणनीतिक साझेदारीलाई प्राथमिकता दिइएको छ।

विश्लेषकहरूका अनुसार विश्वव्यापी आपूर्ति शृंखलामा आउने अवरोधले उत्पादन, व्यापार र उपभोक्ता बजारमा प्रत्यक्ष असर पार्ने भएकाले आर्थिक सुरक्षालाई राष्ट्रिय सुरक्षासँग जोडेर हेर्ने प्रवृत्ति बढ्दै गएको छ।

यस्तै, विभिन्न राष्ट्रहरूले महत्वपूर्ण उद्योगमा लगानी वृद्धि गर्दै दीर्घकालीन आत्मनिर्भरता हासिल गर्ने लक्ष्य राखेका छन्। यसले भविष्यमा सम्भावित अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय संकट वा व्यापारिक अवरोधको प्रभाव कम गर्न सहयोग पुग्ने अपेक्षा गरिएको छ।

विश्व राजनीतिक परिवेश थप जटिल बन्दै गइरहेका बेला आर्थिक स्थायित्व र आपूर्ति शृंखलाको विश्वसनीयता सुनिश्चित गर्नु सरकारहरूको प्रमुख प्राथमिकतामध्ये एक बन्दै गएको छ।
