We did our coven Bendideia Saturday. Bendis, the ancient Thracian goddess of the moon and hunting, was worshipped with ecstatic rites like those of Dionysos in the wilds of Thrace, north of mainland Greece. Thracians lived in tribal villages and were renowned for their ability at war, particularly as cavalry.
The Greeks identified Bendis with Persephone, Artemis, Hekate and Selene. Bendis may have been the same as the Thracian goddess Kotys (Cotys) or a Thracian version of Cybele. Her attributes include a Thracian-style pointed hat and boots made of fox-skin. She’s shown standing between two spears or holding a torch in one hand.
She was also worshipped in Attica, in Piraeus (the harbor town of Athens). As part of the Attic ritual, a torchlight race on horseback was held in the evening in honor of the goddess. The riders carried torches and passed them along to one another as they raced the horses.
For us, she was very sweet. We had no horses for her, only torches, wine, and a bit of drumming.

I Go Like the Hare
I Go Like the Hare
This is a late equinox post. I wanted to write it sooner but I needed some time to just sit with the experience and know what I was hoping to tell.
The vernal equinox, or Ostara, is a celebration I have always struggled to connect to. I live in a landscape that does not wake up until May, in fact as I write this, there’s about a foot of snow on the ground. The heavy spring motifs feel like a big…

I just received my copy of Lifting the Veil in the mail today! I’m not necessarily a particular fan of Farrar, and I’m definitely taking this work and weighing it against my previous study and experience, but overall I’m really quite excited to get a bit more perspective on ecstatic trance and aspecting deity.
My sexual aesthetic
So as far as my stuff with Min, I just wanted to clarify that I won't get all too adult about it but if I do post/reblog something with adult content, I will simply tag with NSFW and adult. What I do in my bedroom as far as that goes is between me, my beloved, and Neterju (or at least who ever is hanging around during the act).
Now, what I learned from this book so far!
The beginning touches on basically care for your body and your spirit and establishing trust between you an your partner. I actually can appreciate a sexual book that starts off right away with that. That usually tells me that the author cares about respect and safety and personal care despite the rest of the content. There was even a little section about rape victims and those who worry about being a victim. Basically stating how to be able to protect one's self and heal if faced with such an event. While a lot if geared towards women, the author does recognize that men can be victims and also deserve to feel safe and respected.
I'll read more later but it looks like I am onto the rest of the content.
