waaughh thank you sm 😳😳 i’m gonna do them separate bc i have a Lot to say so first is Amity!!

i love amity! i think she’s a great character and an excellent example of the “rich mean popular girl actually has a heart of gold & abusive parents” trope actually being written effectively and realistically. a lot of characters that follow that trope have like. one bad fight with their parents and then everything’s perfect and they still get to be rich and keep all their friends. but amity doesn’t get to have the best of both worlds. she loses pretty much all of her old friends and has numerous, very rough fights with her parents. but she’s so much happier now and that makes me happy!!

that said i’m notttttt. Super interested in her when she’s her own, unfortunately. i really adore her, but i think she shines brightest when she’s with luz! their relationship is absolutely my favorite part of the owl house and they work together so well. luz has helped her become someone she actually wanted to be and not someone her parents forced her into thinking she wanted.

on top of all of this tho, and i debated about it for a while, i don’t think her character is like as deep as some people say (in my opinion). which isn’t a bad thing at all! i actually prefer this, because it’s very important to remember that she’s just a kid. she’s not hiding anything, she’s not malicious, she doesn’t ~secretly know the secrets of the boiling isles~ or some shit. all she wants is to be with her girlfriend, have real friends, and parents who talk to her about her interests. that’s literally all she wants. and that’s why i think she’s such a great character, because she’s realistic in a way that’s familiar to us, even in a fantasy setting. ultimately we want what she wants, and we can very easily relate to her bc of it

also i’d be terrified of pre-grom fright amity if i was a kid, not gonna lie LOL. she was like the type of person to invite all her friends to watch me draw during lunch period and be like “ohhh cool what are you drawing? oh wowww so cool. hey kayleigh isn’t that so cool? yeah woww soo neat!!! good job!!”
