Another successful year for EDC
Electric Daisy Carnival, also known as EDC, is the biggest electronic music festival in America since 1977. This year’s annual three-day festival held in Las Vegas, Nevada pulled in around 135,000 people per day, and more than 1,400 drug and/or alcohol related incidents were reported, so now you know the status of it being ‘the sickest rave’ is officially confirmed. The bright and bedazzled festival first took place in 1992 in Los Angeles, California, then slowly expanded to five cities across the U.S., from New York City, NY to Dallas, TX, but it has made Las Vegas, the party capitol of America, its preferred home. Not to mention its experience has become contagious; Puerto Rico, the U.K., Mexico and Brazil have all fallen to the Electric Daisy Carnival franchise, now making it one of the biggest worldwide festivals also. This one-of-a-kind experience has a slightly hefty price tag (although you can pay in rates), with a starting of $329 General Admission for all those 18+ years old, and a minimum of $699 for VIP’s that must be 21+, but that’s a fair price to pay for an unforgettable experience of crazy partying from dusk until dawn. This year’s Early-Bird tickets sold out within an hour! EDC opens its doors at 7:00pm and the festival goes on until 5:30am, but it’s constantly lively with a huge entertainment crew and over 200 acts from professional acrobats, dancers, aerialists and other circus performers. Circus Dancers The eccentric festival has eight different stages all giving different vibes to go with whatever you’re feeling, starting with the striking kineticFIELD, the largest panoramic stage in North America, that has skyscraper-like LED backdrops of Medieval-stained-glass, at a whooping size of six tennis courts. Next, the cosmicMEADOW is in the name, a chiller, hippie-like stage where you can chillax on the grass while getting your groove on. One of the most dynamic and perception-blowing stages is the circuitGROUNDS; a tunnel-like stage where the roof amplifies the music, while you can look up into a milky-way of colors and lights. Another stage is the neonGARDEN, where yellow is probably the darkest color you’ll see. The bassPOD stage will get your body pumped up with the intense amplified bass, whereas the funkHOUSE is for those looking to indulge their ears and move their hips to some old-school, classic R&B and hip-hop. The wasteLAND stage is hectic and bright, with the music coming out of a huge-creature-like’s mouth, guaranteed to induce at least a bit of fear with its heavy-clashing music. Lastly, there is Stage7, for anyone looking to jam to some house music, and the Art Cars, music that literally moves around the festival! KineticFIELD Stage Other attractions included the glow-in-the-dark sculptures, metal creatures that (literally) breathe fire, all the fireworks and of course the free-for-all rides, like the Ferris-wheel on steroids that pulsates neon lights. Even though all of the attractions are a handful of entertainment, we mustn’t forget that this year 174 different artists came out to perform. Tiësto owned kineticFIELD at this year’s EDC in Vegas, he got his crowd pumped with beats as catchy as Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do, to a John Legend – All Of Me remix, which to our surprise, wasn’t slow at all. The music was diverse, from Fatboy Slim, to Avicii, and other famous DJ’s like Calvin Harris also made musical appearances, but one of the most unexpected appearances was Bryan Cranston, or as many of us know him as Walter White from Breaking Bad, stayed true to his bad-ass character and got the rave started. Every year, the number of people that come to EDC multiplies, it’s a mesmerizing, once in a lifetime experience that everyone should go to at least once in their lives! Just come comfortably prepared to be moving on your feet all night, and remember, ‘don’t’ do drugs kids!
