Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje being in Euphoria is reawakening my 11 year old self who was obsessed with studying what was going on between Adebisi and Peter Schibetta in Oz. I didn’t watch the whole Oz TV show I would just try to find the episodes that had both of them in it. I think the portrayal of a male rape survivor was very interesting to me. Plus school felt like a prison so the prison setting was relatable. And the actor playing Adebisi was clearly talented/handsome + Eddie Malavarca is handsome / good actor
The show could have handled it better instead of shelving him, but they tried to address the topic of male rape semi respectfully in season… 6? Season 4? Whenever he is getting out of the psych ward and confiding the nun… I’ll have to actually watch the full show to know. Since rape is such a big problem in prisons I think the least a show about prison could do is address it without leading the audience of stupid lame loser men to believe that the rape victim is a “bitch” and “an audacious brat who deserved it” and a “cowardly punk who had it coming”. I also liked how Peter Schibetta never gave up out of spite even though he is constantly getting almost comically beat down over and over again and abandoned by everyone
but really the Oz fandom is really weird about Peter Schibetta, whether they blame him for his rape or use the rape to dismiss his character entirely or fetishize the rape and reduce him to a pretty boy.. it’s all indicative of how they would view rape survivors IRL… not good

I don't think thats true, IMDB. I can SEE ZANGHI
Eddie Malavarca and RE Rodgers are tied for who had to do the most on-screen SA scenes. Apparently Malavarca had to do it because he kept showing up late to set and the writers threatened if he showed up late for work again he was going to have to do a rape scene and then he showed up late again so they made him do the 2nd one. And then from what Im reading Rodgers just really liked to have the most drama and be super intense and he kind of became their go-to guy when they needed to film 3/4 of the most graphic scenes on the show because he had a real down-for-whatever attitude. im pretty sure hes the only one on the show who not only had to do a full on-screen rape scene that doesnt cut away at all but hes also the only actor on the show who they had have nude full-body contact with another actor. Like yeah Meloni kissed some dudes but he had Brendan Kelly laying on top of him while neither of them had pants on for however many takes of a scene that lasts more than a full minute. That's some dedication to the craft right there
