Eddie and Volt AU were they get this old, scraggly cat that instantly becomes the breaker box's new mascot.
The poor thing is riddled with fleas and underfed - you can see bald patches of skin where the fabric has rubbed off, and count his very prominent ribs.
Volt is the one to discover the inanimal behind the breaker box after closing. He immediately takes it to Mateo (and it's too weak, too worn out to put up much of a fight.) It's a terrible case of neglect - Mateo remembers who originally owned the inanimal, and Volt has never seen this much unfiltered rage behind the man's eyes. The cat stays with Mateo for a few days until he stabilizes, from where the object tentatively agrees to release the cat into Volt's care as a sort of foster situation.
Cue Volt dragging in the most feral, ill-tempered cat Eddie has ever seen into the bar right before they open.
"What the hell is that," Eddie says, watching the one-eared stray paw at a shot glass. He snatches it away before the cat knocks it off the bar.
"His name," Volt corrects, "Is Sparky."
Eddie sighs, but he knows it won't do any good. After all, he's never been able to deny Volt anything.
From then on, Sparky is a permanent fixture at the bar. He can be found lounging on his side, slinking between patrons, or, on busy nights, hiding with Eddie when his shift ends. You could swear Sparky judges you everytime you enter the Breaker Box (and you would be right.)
And when they're realized? Sparky becomes High Voltage Realty's mascot. (Volt makes him an Instagram page. He racks up nearly a thousand followers overnight.)
