Me (talking to my 1984, self): it’s okay that you don’t paint as well as the popular students. Follow the message in you. Pretty much the same message I tell myself today. There are REALLY talented artists out there, making fantastic art! But so am I! People have been telling me a long time they hope to be able to “afford” my work one day…I hope they can as well. I don’t sell it just to make a sale; I know my worth and the intensity of my work. The depth of my work doesn’t have to be explained when it is felt. I display it for those who can and cannot pay money…looking costs you nothing and if anything, speaks to your soul. The image above, “Bird in Flight” conveys so many meanings. Mid year review: “somehow” I had two exhibits! Thank you Lord! I moved everything back into this space and yet, this room has only been used as a storage space and a software development space (working on my site: eddielhudsonartist.com). I would say I hope to make the remainder of the year better but I have a tendency to put "others” ahead of me…and the work. I know this one of my purposes and yet I balance against competing priorities and it’s a heavy balance to strike. Yes, getting past the mid year I want the rest of the year to be better devoted to my creativity. “Call it by name”…I see it each day, in nearly every face, body language, snippets of conversation in passing… the buildings declare it, even the weather screams it! But everything blends and overlaps and on the surface, everything seems to be “okay.” It is a covering, a blanket, a tapestry that covers up a great deal of activity. “Activities” both good and bad, constructive and destructive.
