Loved reading your thoughts on different Mike/Will ships! Personally I'm not into madwheeler because I HC Mike as gay and just can't see him with a girl haha. But I agree 100% with your thoughts on byclair, (by)wheelclair and eddiemike! Eddiemike was such a surprise for me because I very much prefer top Mike, but with Eddie he'd be such a perfect bottom 😍 And sometimes I'm in the mood for that haha. glad you understand the vision with eddiemike! the way I enjoy byler shifts around but I enjoy where I'm at currently so eddie is the kind of guy where I'm like oh you're a fun top for my baby!

other ships I like hm hmmm... well obviously there's henwiII 😋 that's really the only other major one, and I love it for the dark tropes, the obsession, the temptation, the sensuality, the canon connection that's still mysterious, it has potential and I hope we're not let down...

basically you know how in the main fandom there are all the jokes about will having many love interests and each one is his bf? I think it just is true that he's a character easy to ship with others 😂 mike is tricky! the vibes are different! I think that's why eddiemike had me perk up, there was an exciting match (for me!)

sorry if it's boring but I don't think I really dislike any apart from the obvious, it's more so like mike x lucas where I don't see their dynamic romantically! And I promise I'm not leaving dustin out here, I actually just really like him with suzie. although there's been hc's about dustin making some sex toy invention for will and I love that 😂 I do have one fic wip with lucas and dustin engaging with mike and will (exhibitionism with a little more) so I have thought about it before!

sure, eddie's not that much older, and mike is older now, more mature now, he swears, he's not an innocent little kid, but it's the same principle.

can you share your eddiemike preferences

I very much envision Eddie as bisexual, for sure. There's the starter. I do still view Mike as gay. And Mike develops a very formative crush on Eddie. The classic "do I want him or want to be him" as Mike is struggling with identity and sexuality.

It's tricky - because there's a dynamic there, but not one I "ship" in quite so simple terms. The particular EddieMike vibe I'm into. If I was to write a fic, this is what I'd write. But - I'm not going to actually write it in the near future, so here's the synopsis of EddieMike as I personally would want it under the cut:

Older gay mentor - but I need Eddie to still be a disaster. He's not calm and wise, he's chaos and some good advice and some bad. It is imperative that Mike finds Eddie really cool - but Eddie is so not cool. He's confident and exuberant and fun and they have a lot in common and Mike is a little smitten - but Eddie is not cool. Over-exaggerates stories of his sexcapades. Oh, he's got experience, but he's not cleaning up like that.

But maybe Mike goes over to hang out with him. Talk about life. Eddie may be brash and he'll roast his friends to filth but he's not exactly judgemental, not with all he's got going on. And there was an implication recently in one of Eddie's more detailed, vulgar stories that gave Mike pause. Sounded kinda... gay. And their eyes meet and it's clear some sort of understanding passed between then and Eddie winks at him, causing Mike to blush the rest of the night, every time they lock eyes. Mike can't stop thinking about it for days after that group hang out.

So Mike... finally admits out loud to another human being that he might like... guys... maybe. And Eddie isn't here for bashful and coy, he's here for "fuck yeah, Wheeler, stick it to society, fuck your cookie cutter bland ass parents and all their expectations and blah blah" and Mike's relieved that Eddie's backing him, but he's not doing it to rebel, wonders if that's all Eddie's doing it for?

And they hang out more one on one. It's nice to have the attention of a guy like that. Mike's crush is weird. All he wants is to impress Eddie, have him dig his campaigns and keep teaching him guitar and ask for advice on what to do about the things he's feeling. But Mike... knows he likes someone else.

-Take it or leave it for escalation but it would happen like...

But he's worried how he feels isn't real, that he's confused, how can he know for real? They're high, having smoked some pot to chill out one day. The thing Eddie likes about Mike is that Mike both gets all flustered when he teases him and riles him up over generally anything, but Mike also challenges him, bickers, and generally acts like a little shit, too. Eddie can appreciate that. One thing leads to another and Mike kisses him. He has to know and ohhhh yeah, he likes this. Eddie's a man. A man's hands and a man's jaw and a man's scent and the unmistakable feeling also hard against his jeans.

And they makeout and then it's weird and they part ways for the night. But Mike meets up with him a few days later and before Eddie can even explain why it's not a good idea to do this, Mike's on him again. And it's intense, they're both trying to one-up and take control - Eddie's not gentle and timid with him. Hey, if Wheeler wants to do this, who's he to be the voice of reason. Not his job. And he's not as experienced as he says and it's... been awhile. And this guy's been giving him so much attention, and he's not into him like that but hey, Wheeler's a looker. Everyone's gotta start somewhere. He wishes he had someone like him to test the waters with instead of sneaking into bars and having his first foray into this world being with someone who wasn't so... anyway.

They fool around, but they don't fuck. Eddie put a firm line to that one, and they argued about it and realized they were... incompatible, anyway. At the time at least, unwilling to cave to the other. But - there's a lot they can and do try together.

And it goes on for a little while but then one hang out Mike doesn't initiate. Eddie always waits for him to initiate. And then it just stops happening. He feels stupid asking - it's not like Eddie has a crush, but he wonders if the kid got it out of his system. Feels some sort of way about it. Feels more than a little stupid.

Eventually, Mike confesses to him that he appreciates everything and wants to keep hanging out, but he's learned all he needs about himself and doesn't want to get attached - he's in love with someone else. And so his pleading for advice turns romantic rather than sexual or introspective. And Eddie's even further out of his depth but he's not one to admit defeat, no sir, never. So the bullshit continues and he hopes some of the nonsense he relays to young Wheeler leads him to win the man that has him so completely turned upside down.
