An Act of Love - **Newt Scamander x Reader Request **
can you do one where the reader gets newts trust, but she's a spy for grindewald, then she ends up falling in love with newt and he feels the same way . He's just distraught, thinking that they're relationship was a lie. Then it the end she intervenes when grindewald tries to kill newt, and he then she that she really loves him!!!
I was wondering if you could do one with Newt where reader steps in front of him and blocks the hex from Grindelwald during one of the battles. Maybe Newt thinks she’s dead but then turns out to be okay? Like lots of angst but then a very fluffy happy ending.
@supreme-kanej and @barbarachern I have been toying with your requests for sometime now. Trying to decide if I should do to separate ones, to combine them, or even make this into another series at some point. Thank you for being so patient with me. I hope you both enjoy the angsty angst and fluffly fluff.
The room was dark, but the voice that spoke was darker still. It was able to penetrate your very soul with a mere syllable which is why you were so trapped by his power. You lie awake, staring into the emptiness of the room. It had been months since you had happened upon his face but in the abyss of the night in the bedroom, you could still see his chilling glare.
Newt Scamander…
His voice had echoed in your ears causing eerie goosebumps to rise down your back and arms.
Find him…learn his secrets...so that I can destroy him...
The bouldering guilt that lay in your stomach tossed and you rolled over as your eyes began to adjust to the bedside table next to you. A white dowelie laid up top the table, it seem to glow in the moonlight that escaped the curtains. You look up a little ways on the table to find an image of Newt and you laughing and then looking back longingly into each other’s eyes. There was genuine love in both of those stares and it made you feel all the more pained as you looked away towards the wall.
When Grindelwald gave you this task to find Newt, you had done it just as you had done all his bidding several times before in order to provide him with information he required. You used your feminine charm to snake your way into a short romance and give Grindelwald what he wanted. But from the moment Newt put a greeting hand in yours that day at the ministry, you knew something wasn't right about this mission. Something certainly was off when the smiles weren't forced and the longing glares were out of habit. When he asked you to dinner for the first time, you actually genuinely worried about what you would wear and how you would act. It wasn't the same, the way your heart danced when he looked at you with those cool green eyes.
The worst came when your reports to Grindelwald became less and less intricate and you began spending more and more time with Newt. Recently, you found yourself putting them off as to readily make yourself available to move in with the magizoologist.
The nightstand before you was one that you dreaded when you gazed upon it. It was your black stain upon your perfectly white blouse. You gently reach up and slowly open the side drawer next to you. It glides on its grooves revealing a notebook. You reach your hands over into the open drawer. The notebook feels heavy with its dark purpose. Pages upon pages of notes for Grindelwald’s eyes were scribbled on every page. Newt and you had grown so close very quickly and this was the reason why. Your need to get all the information you could. A pen posed as a bookmark for you to know where a fresh page was. You picked up the pen, as if to write something, Grindelwald would be the only one privy to the information written. Why were you still doing this? You just wanted to be with Newt for love, not for the task.
A rustle next to you in bed reminds you that you are not alone. Moving as fast as you can, you place the notebook back in its place and shut the drawer. A hand suddenly makes itself known and snakes its way around your waist. A smile also slithers its way across your face, betraying your purpose. A pull brings you closer to your bed partner. You can feel Newt’s bare chest against your back and the subtle bumps of his many scars. His arms over lap yours as his head rests against the side of your face.
“Been up writing again?” You have been caught writing in your enchanted notebook for Grindelwald before but Newt, being naive and trusting, never thought twice about it. Your guilt doubled in your stomach. Trying to forget, you lean back into Newt’s body and let the euphoric loving feeling run through you.
“Yeah. Ready to go back to sleep now.” You hold onto his arms for dear life, never wanting this feeling to end and you know someday it would.
But did it have to?
You could give up your dark secret life, you could instead decide to live your days out with Newt. If he could ever forgive your past.
“You’ve seemed tense recently, love.”
“I’ve just had a lot on my mind. Nothing to worry yourself with.” You could tell he wasn’t fully awake as you knew normally he wouldn’t accept an answer like that.
“Okay. I love you darling.” He whispered softly. The words dripped into your ear warm and satisfying and sending a thrill down your spine.
“I...I…love you too, Newt.” The words were left heavy in the air as you admitted your true feeling aloud. You knew what you would have to do. In the morning you would repent to Newt and renounce your life of crime. The dark room became heavy on your eyes and you could feel yourself drifting as for once you felt safe in Newt’s arms, enough to let yourself drift off to sleep.
“Y/N, wake up… Wake up, darling.”
Your eyes blink awake. The sun is still not shining, but Newt is standing over you, the candle lit lights flicker as you sit up.
“What’s going on?”
“It’s the ministry, they’ve summoned us, Grindelwald and his followers have started a battle on the streets.” Your heart drops heavily into your stomach.
He knows.
Newt throws back your covers to assist you in getting ready as he walks over to his chester drawers to put on a shirt and pants. You swing your legs over the side of the bed and look over to Newt. If you were to go out there, he would surely find out and this fairy tale romance you had created would die.
“Let’s not go.” You say quietly. Newt's rustling in the drawer comes to an immediate halt as he looks over at you confused.
“Don’t go? What in Merlin’s name do you mean?” You get up and run to him, wrapping your arms around his waist. He gives a short chuckle, thinking in his mind that this is a game.
“Let’s just pack our bags and go!” You turn to the side to look him in the eyes and he can see the seriousness of your thoughts. He turns around to face you, your arms still locked around him. “You always wanted to go to China! Let’s go! They can’t stop us.”
He raises an eyebrow high in the air, questioningly.
“Y/N, we have to stop Gindelwald. We can go on a trip later, darling.Get dressed quickly.” He kisses you on the forehead as he crosses the room. As he slips from your grasp, you know the end is near and it breaks your heart.
The streets are deserted by the time Newt and you apperate to the location of the battle. Armed with your wands, you both hesitantly move past upturned vehicles and debry. Small fires are strewn in various spots down the street. Newt walks determinedly down the street but you know the plan and what is about to happen, and you can’t force yourself to act innocent anymore. You walk, praying to see Grindelwald first, hoping you can attack him before any harm befalls Newt.
As if by summons, a low pitched laugh can be heard echoing throughout the buildings and you know instantly that he has arrived. There is no saving anyone now.
“Why Mr. Scamander… Ms. Y/L/N, how good of you to stop by. You’ve just missed your friends, although I’m sure you’ll find them lying around somewhere.” You look over slightly to your left and right to see bodies of both parties silent in their demise.
Newt looks enraged with the shadow of embers as sparks fly from the surrounding flames.
“You can choose to come quietly and there be no need to hurt anyone.” Grindelwald doesn’t take the suggestion seriously and laughs again as he climbs down from his stance upon on of the upturned cars.
“Oh Mr. Scamander, I do believe you are about to be the hurt one.” He says as he walks over to you. Newt instantly sends spell after spell towards him, desperate to protect you from harm. He watches as you stand, body frozen to the spot. Grindelwald smirks at you as he knows exactly what has happened.
“Good work, Y/N. I do believe this has been your best accomplishment to date.Even if your reports did lack in the end.” Upon hearing this Newt stops running towards you and looks oddly at you. Not being able to face him, you turn your head to the side.
How could you face him now?
“What is he talking about, Y/N.” Grindelwald looks to Newt and back at you. His sly but sickening smile make you feel disgusting, a tear escapes and you quickly wipe it away.
“Ohhh, my dear. Forget to tell your lover about our little arrangement. Tsk, Tsk. Why didn't you tell him you've been working for me. Reporting to me about his every move. His every secret.” He turns to Newt. “Think of all the information she's gained from the ministry. She's made this sooo simple for me.” Newt walked cautiously towards you and turn your head to look at him. His eyes burned your skin with disappointment and betrayal.
“I’m not working for you anymore.” You yell, you walk closer towards Newt and hold your wand at attention. This wasn’t the time for Newt and you to walk through your relationship. A this time you were just two people who wanted to bring a criminal to justice.
“Oh I see.” Grindelwald laughs louder. “You’ve chosen love over power. No matter. I have no use for you anymore. My death count has grown by one tonight.” His wand quickly flicks over to both of you and the battle begins. Flashes of spells project back and forth. Newt and you on one side and Grindelwald all on his own. Between sparks, you look over to Newt who dedicates himself to concentrating solely on his spells and counters. He dares not look at you.
“Okay, so I lied about who I was, but I never lied about your feelings, Newt.” You yell in between the chaos. Newt quickly glances at you with a loathing stare.
“Right now? You’ve decided now would be the best time?”
“I’m not proud of my past Newt, but you’ve… given me a purpose.” Newt loses his temper and launches a giant attack on Grindelwald, which hits head on and throws him into the air. He crashes into the brick wall behind him and crumbles into a heap on the sidewalk. Newt and you stand for a moment, breathing deeply in and out. Newt turns and begins to walk away.
“Newt, where are you going!” You turn to yell after him.
“Away.” He yells back.
“Please. Newt. I didn’t lie about my feelings. They were real. Everything between us was real. PLEASE.” You run after him and grab his arm. He stands in your grip, allowing the last moment of intimacy to pass through you both. His eyes closed savoring the memory of your touch.
“Y/N. How do you expect me to believe you? I know nothing about you, except that you’ve been a spy for months.” He turns back to face you as he wrenches his arm from your grasp. You’re losing him with every word that comes spewing from you mouth. Tears begin to spill from your eyes.
“Newt… Newt, I love you.” The words pain Newt to his core, guarding his heart against anymore attacks.
“Good-bye Y/N.” He turns again and begins to count the steps in his head, believing that it will make it easier to walk away from the woman he had grown to love more than anyone else in his life, past or present.
1… 2…3…4...5
“NEWT!!!!” A high pitched scream erupts behind him and he can see the outline of a huge light behind him. Quickly, he turns back to you to see a large bolt of light shooting towards him, a body standing between him and the light. It slams right into your body and all the guilt and shame in the world couldn’t equate to the pain you felt, but every second of throbbing inflicted pain was worth it to know you had saved the life of the only man you ever truly loved.
The light never died. It was blinding and white. You knew you should be dead, but here you were feeling your eyes blink open. Was it all a dream? Where you still in your bed with Newt? Still in love and living your new life? You turned your head slightly and a shooting pain ran down your side and your heart sank as you knew it had all been real. Adjusting to the light, you see a blurred outline of a person. Blinking, the figure comes into focus and you instantly try to sit up. A searing pain shoots up your side and you sigh out loud in agony. Newt, who had fallen asleep next to you wakes up suddenly. At first he looks worried at your groans but after realising you are okay, looks sternly at you.
“What happened?” You croaked, your voice trying to resume its normal vibrato.
“Grindelwald took off, I assume. Not before he decided to try one last shot at me, which you blocked… so thank you for that… I guess. The ministry is after him again. Know where he'll turn up next? Maybe you could be a double agent and spy on him for a change.” Newt obviously wasn't going to let this go… but he had now let you go.
“I'm sorry Newt. There isn't anything else I can say.” The that came out was very hoarse and dry. “I wish we could have started over.” You said as your voice began to fluctuate with emotion. “I'm not proud of...”
“You lied to me. Everything about you. I don't even know this, Y/N: the spy. You know who I did love though? Y/N: my girlfriend, she could have easily become someone who I spent the rest of my life with.” You closed your eyes, desperately trying to drain the tears from your eyes, but none came.
“I understand.” You said. He stood without hesitation and went to the door. You turned your eyes to the ceiling, not able to watch him go. The creak of the door alerted your senses and you could feel your body shutting down. This was the start of your new life. No more Grindelwald, no more secrets or lies… no more Newt.
“Excuse me.” A familiar voice rang and you looked down towards the door again. “My name is Newt Scamander.” He walked over to your hospital bed, you looked at him confused. Reaching down he took your hand in his.
“Y/N Y/L/N.”
“It’s nice to meet you. If you’re not doing anything, would you like to have dinner… tonight at this fine hospital room? I’d love to get to know YOU more.” He emphasized the sense of getting to know the real you.
“I’d like that very much.”
I hope you guys like this! It took my quite a while.
