Eden Nikohl Davis was born on November 29th, 1994, in the Upper East Side of Manhattan to Eleanor Davis, a neurosurgeon, and Isaiah Davis, a cardiothoracic surgeon. Two well respected doctors in their field and well known in many New York City social circles. Because of this, Eden was brought up around the New York City socialites and Elite from pretty much the beginning of her life. Totted around and showed off in pretty little dresses as soon as she could walk, learning how to plaster on a smile for everyone, no matter how fake it felt. It wasn’t that her parents didn’t love her, or respect her, but they believed there was a certain way to go about things, their social standing was very important to them, after all.
Eden was sent to a private school for high school, which included blue plaid uniform skirts, and too many kids of socialites who thought they owned the world, and maybe some of them did. Eden was young, so she didn’t think she was above all of it, the parties and the late nights and the money, of course she indulged in all of those things, as any young kid would, she could be found at parties on weekends in a cute designer outfit, drink in hand, dancing with her friends, or kissing someone in a corner. Other weekends were spent on shopping sprees with her friend group, or even sometimes her mom. There were charity galas and dinner parties. All of the classic Upper East Side elite lifestyle things. The difference was, those weren’t the only things that her life revolved around. Eden loved books, always having one on her person; nose buried in one when she was home alone, or sometimes, when she was stuck at some party at a friend of her parents’. She loves all kinds of book, from romantic fiction, to history to books about the stars and the universe. She would turn on her favorite album and spend Sundays with coffee and a book, curled up in her dads worn leather armchair.
Every child of someone in these elite circles were expected to go to an Ivy League, and with the way Eden studied and read, she was a shoo-in for Yale, where both of her parents had gone and met. This was basically the plan, and Eden knew she didn’t really have a way out of it, bar her parents disowning her or something, but that didn’t seem likely, no matter how many times their limo driver had to pick her up drunk from one of her friends parties, or how many parties of her own she threw when they were away.
A few months before her 16th birthday, Eden met a boy. Eden knew many boys, and girls, and had dated them, but this one was a little different, or so she thought. He liked the same music as her, he liked the same books, he didn’t laugh at her when she talked about astrology, and would gladly sit up all night talking about anything and everything with her. She thought she was in love, and maybe she really was at the time. All she knew was everything felt perfect. It was just weeks before her sixteenth birthday party, a big to do, a coming out of sorts, where she would wear a big dress and her dad would make a big speech about her growing up, where she was staring at the positive sign on a pregnancy test.
She didn’t tell her mom right away, but when she did, all hell broke loose. Her dad was ready to kill her boyfriend, and her mom? She insisted on either her getting rid of the baby all together, or, alternatively, marrying her boyfriend, raising the baby together, and both of them going to college, living the lives their parents planned out for them. That’s when it hit Eden that this was not the life she wanted for herself, and definitely not the one she wanted for her baby, who despite her age she already wanted to keep. So then came her plan. Her boyfriend, the father of her baby, didn’t want to get married either, so she gave him a way out, accept the marriage, pretend they’re in love, and when the time came, they would take their baby and go somewhere else, live a life different from what their parents expected. He accepted.
Except, two months after their baby was born, little Lorelei “Lola” Davis, he decided that maybe he did want to get married, maybe he did want to go to Yale or Harvard like his own parents, and he gave her an ultimatum. Marry him, and raise the baby with him, or do it alone. In the middle of the night, Eden packed up her self and her baby and took off, leaving a note for her parents behind. She found herself in Crystal City, 16, with a newborn baby and nowhere to go. If it wasn’t for Agnes Demount and Cherry Lane books, Eden wouldn’t know how she survived. Eden had wandered inside the first place she saw when she stepped off the bus, and Agnes greeted her with a smile, offered her warm food, an ear, and then a job, and a home. She had a studio apartment just upstairs, and she’d let her and Lola stay there if she worked at the bookstore in exchange. Eden cried right then and there, and then she planted her roots.
Crystal City easily became home, big city vibes with a small town feel, it was the perfect place to raise her daughter. She of course, contacted her parents, but told them in no uncertain terms if they wanted to be apart of her and her daughters life, that they wouldn’t force her to come home, that they’d let her do this. They reluctantly agreed, but of course it put a wall in their relationship. And for the father of her child, he didn’t really seem like he wanted anything to do with either of them, sights set on Harvard. So, Eden took care of business. Agnes was a big help, helping her finish school at night school at Crystal City High, watching Lola while she did. It wasn’t easy, and she was constantly exhausted, but she made it work.
When Agnes died in late 2019, Eden found that she was the only family Agnes really had, with no children, siblings or spouse, Agnes had left her everything. A small two bedroom home in New Haven, and Cherry Lane books. So now, Eden is the owner of the bookstore, has a ten year old daughter and at just twenty six years old, is just trying to figure it all out.
Threw a little Summer get together and invited the entire family!
Little Family picture before Avery heads off to University :D
The entire Family is cheering on Jordan creating this Servo! He is almost done.
Apparently both Jordan and Eden thought Popcorn was a suitable breakfast!
Everyone is so tired! But they all stayed up to watch the countdown to midnight, and Katie and Jordan shared a new years kiss!
