When the meeting had been called, she’d felt dread to her very core but even though she suspected the worst, she hadn’t expected it to actually happen. The news had torn apart any hope she’d had that the other side possessed enough morals for things to be off limits. But most of all her heart was broken for Lily and James. It was such a senseless loss that she was struggling to wrap her mind around it, she couldn’t imagine the anguish that they were feeling. But for all she was distraught for the most part she had managed to hold it together, she wanted to support the Potters rather than break down. Once they’d gotten home though, the tears had started flowing, chest tightening. “I just can’t believe it.” The words slipped from her lips scarcely above a whisper, hardly knowing what else she could possibly say. She reached for her husband, hoping that his touch could provide some comfort but the room started spinning just as her hand landed on his arm. “Ed, I don’t -” The rest of her sentence was lost as the room faded to black.
