The way she sings “Every boy must learn to be a man / Maybe I can help you, yes I can” always gives me chills (that vibrato in “yes I can,” though, and it’s in such a perfect place because it goes along with such a powerful statement, “Maybe I can help you”...which, to be fair, probably isn’t meant in a particularly powerful way considering the connotation of the context, and also it’s Stevie, so, you know. Or maybe my mind is awful. That’s probably another thing). Still, I just love this song and its mood, even if it seems a little gloomy.
But for another statement, how about “If I were you / I would trust in me like I trusted you.” Ouch...and yet, hopeful? Ah, the gorgeous paradox of Stevie Nicks.
