اکثر والدین اپنے بچوں کو پڑھا لکھا کر ڈاکٹر، انجنیئر یا کسی بڑے عہدے پر فائز ہونے کا خواب دیکھتے ہیں مگر اپنی پوری زندگی انسانیت کی خدمت میں وقف کرنے والے عبدالستار ایدھی نے نہ صرف اپنے بیٹے فیصل ایدھی بلکہ پوتے سعد ایدھی کو بھی بچپن سے انسانیت کی خدمت کرنے کی تربیت دی اور فلاحی کاموں کا شوق جگایا۔ فیصل ایدھی نے اعلیٰ تعلیم حاصل کی مگر بعد میں اپنے والد کے مشن کو جارے رکھنے کا عہد کیا۔ فیصل اور اب ایدھی خاندان کی تیسری نسل کے فرد سعد ایدھی بھی انسانیت کی خدمت میں پیش پیش نظر آتے ہیں۔ ایدھی فاؤنڈیشن کے بانی عبدالستار ایدھی آٹھ جولائی 2016 کو کراچی میں انتقال کر گئے لگاتار 40 سال بغیر کسی چھٹی کے کام کرنے کا عالمی ریکارڈ بنانے والے ایدھی کے انتقال پر سرکاری طور پر ایک دن سوگ کا اعلان کیا گیا۔
مادر ملت محترمہ فاطمہ جناح کے بعد ایدھی دوسری غیر سرکاری شخصیت تھیں جنہیں سرکاری اعزاز کے ساتھ دفنایا گیا۔ ان کی وفات پر تمام سرکاری عمارتوں پر قومی پرچم سرنگوں رہا۔ 20 جون 1998 کو پیدا ہونے والے سعد کے شناختی کارڈ کے مطابق ان کا پورا نام عبدالستار ایدھی محمد سعد ہے جو ایدھی مرحوم نے خود رکھا تھا۔ سعد اِس وقت کراچی کی ایک یونیورسٹی سے بزنس مینجمنٹ میں بیچلرز کے طالب علم ہیں۔ 2005 میں شمالی پاکستان اور کشمیر میں آنے والے تباہ کن زلزلے میں عبدالستار ایدھی سات سالہ سعد کو بھی اپنے ساتھ لے گئے تھے تاکہ وہ بھی فلاحی کاموں میں حصہ لے سکیں۔
سعد نیپال کے زلزلے میں بھی امدادی کام کر چکے ہیں۔ اس کے علاوہ وہ حال ہی میں شام میں جاری جنگ میں متاثرہ خاندانوں کی مدد کرنے بھی جانا چاہتے تھے لیکن انہیں وہاں جانے کی اجازت نہیں ملی۔ سعد ایدھی نے انڈپینڈنٹ اردو کو بتایا 'میں نے جیسے آنکھ کھولی اپنے والد فیصل ایدھی اور دادا عبدالستار ایدھی کو فلاحی کام کرتے دیکھا تو اب فلاحی کام نہ صرف میرا شوق بلکہ جنون ہے اور میں یہ کام پوری عمر کرتا رہوں گا۔' وہ اس وقت ایدھی ایمبولینس کے مواصلاتی کنٹرول اور ایدھی میرین (سمندری) سروس کو سنبھالتے ہیں اور پاکستان کے ساتھ دنیا میں کہیں بھی فلاحی کام کرنے کا عزم رکھتے ہیں۔
