What have the OT fans you know been saying about this trilogy that you hope IX will give you a chance to stick it to them? Are they saying Kylo will die? Just wondering lol.

Well, I have some friends that are a bit older than I am who cannot believe that Kylo is getting a redemption arc (shocking) and have said, verbatim:

“I’m not afraid of Kylo, I hate him, but I’m not afraid of him.” And I literally had to keep myself from screeching: “THAT IS THE POINT.”

These are fans who saw the OT in theaters, one of which who had to be bodily carried out of the theater as Han was frozen in carbonite (because he was crying so hard). I think Han’s death is (obviously) a big key as to why they refuse to see Kylo as he is and not as they think he is.

Aaaand then Rian sacrificed Luke too LOL (which I am fine with, I think Luke has never been as compelling as he is in TLJ, but my fav Luke was always RotJ anyways, who was a little less wide-eyed and a little darker).

They also threw out some, LOL as if Rey cares for him “because he has a good soul” (said very sarcastically) lol. To which my spouse said, “Sounds like Pacificwanderer,” and I said, “Yup. Sounds like me.”

LOL to their credit, they stopped talking shit after they realized I’m like #1 Kylo Stan/Reylo af. That was just the most recent. I’ve had so many conversations, over and over, with OT fans and I just I mean, I’m an OT fan. I watched the OT so much that I still have most of the dialogue memorized from RotJ.

It’s the same talking points, over and over, and just an absolute refusal to see the story as it is. There’s also this insistence that “Well, that’s just how they do things in Star Wars,” which Rian and LF have clearly shown is something they’re trying to break away from.

Also, blah blah, Kylo gonna die, blah blah, this is a tragedy (blah blah no it isn’t).

Basically, I just try to remember that not everyone has been elbow deep in this shit for the past forever lol and also don’t have as much emotionally invested as I do. But it still annoys the fuck out of me because, generally speaking, I don’t bring the topic up lol.

But, I’m not going to lie, the ultimate schadenfreude would be in your face, disgustingly romantic, kissing love hugs la la happily ever after Reylo. God damn, would that be great lol
