Honoring a Trailblazer: Mme Edith Duchatelier Prosper – A Legend of Haitian Hospitality & Music
March is Women’s Month, a time to celebrate the women who have shaped our culture, history, and industries. Today, we honor the legacy of Mme Edith Duchatelier Prosper, a visionary entrepreneur who left her mark on Haiti’s music and hospitality scene.
Born on October 11, 1927, and forever cherished after her passing on August 10, 2019, Mme Prosper was more than a businesswoman—she was a supporter of the arts, a mentor, and a pioneer. As the owner of C'est si Bon, Nilody Restaurants, and La Grotte nightclub in Pétion-Ville, she created spaces where music thrived and artists flourished. She even played a pivotal role in shaping the career of Glück Hunter, encouraging him to sing while playing.
Her contributions remind us of the power of women in shaping culture and inspiring generations. This Women’s Month, we celebrate her legacy and the countless Haitian women who continue to pave the way.
