HEH HEH HEH.... COME INTO MY CAN OF WORMS...
- I subscribe to the idea that they knew each other before Luca’s accident. That they met at some function and Luca was just so friendly and genuine and passionate that Edgar got attached too quickly, and of course that evolved.
- He didn’t let many people In back before the manor. His room was a sacred space. His true thoughts and feelings were earned, not given. People knew him for being disdainful and dismissive of others, including his own family, because they just didn’t understand the world in the way he did. But Luca seemed to, and that earned him the VIP pass into Edgar’s life.
- Poetry aside, Luca was the one to make the first move on the tickling front.
- Before that little encounter, Edgar didn’t even know if he was ticklish at all - while the act wasn’t alien to him, it wasn’t exactly something he knew well. The Valdens weren’t exactly known for their physical affection. Luca was glad to share the knowledge with him.
- ... He didn’t hate it. But he did much prefer the inventor squirming under him instead.
- They were both addicted to each other’s laughter, and it felt so nice to be touched by someone they trusted so deeply.
- Of course, the rosy days came to an abrupt ending after Luca’s incident. Re-meeting at the manor, Luca still had to play the bold one - because after Edgar realized the inventor had forgotten almost everything in his life, he shut himself behind walls. It was like they were meeting again for the first time, both such drastically different people.
- Again, Luca was the instigator. This time, he did it publicly, just after a match, to try to get the Painter to smile for fucking once. Of course, by now, Edgar is quite familiar and has very much decided he does not want anyone seeing him in such a state, so instead of retaliation, he lashes out and runs off.
- Luca recovers, of course. And tries again. And again. And again.
- As they eventually get closer for the second time, Edgar is willing to let his walls down because... Fuck it, he missed this, honestly. He missed Luca, and sure, he might not remember what they were before or who he was before but everything he says and does, the way he acts, so outgoing and genuine and friendly, it’s all so Luca, it always has been.
- Maybe it’s for both of them. Maybe he’s got some small hope that by allowing him this, he’ll realize he hasn’t lost as much of himself as he thought.
- This is too emotional, shit.
- Ignoring all that noise, tickle fights between them are common behind closed doors. If you’re passing by one of their rooms, there’s a chance you’ll hear muffled squeals and giggles on the other side of the door. It’s very endearing.
- Edgar is way more sensitive, but he’s also more stubborn and persistent, and usually comes out the winner - unless he’s feeling lenient (soft) and calls it a draw.
- Luca does, however, enjoy teasing him in public with a poke or offhand comment around other people, just to see him blush and squirm a bit.
