Deadmau5 "fellow electronic dance artists aren't taking enough risk"
I think it is pretty bad when EDM artist are getting caught faking parts of their performances. We’ve heard a few stories before of artists actually pressing play on a recorded song while pretending to manipulate it on stage. It has happened more than once and by multiple big name artists. When audiences and crowd members begin to realize what is going on, the backlash begins as a form of outcry against the current state of dance music. But when you really get to the bottom of what is going on, maybe it is the fans who are the reason behind this. Every performer wants to be perceived as on top of their game. They don’t want to make foolish mistakes in front of a live audience. This same fear of failure seems to translate right over when it comes time to produce the music as well. Artists are sounding alike, and they know it. Perhaps they bank on that fact – giving them instant credibility to be added to a playlist. When EDM artists begin speaking out against themselves, then you really know that the problem is more than skin deep.
