Lord Inquisitor Cadash Day 1
Edric Cadash (lovingly referred to by me as “Trash Baby Cadash”) is young, so young, and he acts every bit of it. He’s prideful to a fault, but with nothing to show for it; he wants to be famous and well known, but he wants none of the responsibility to go with it and he falters in the face of choice—passing it off to others so if something goes wrong he can pass the blame and guilt too. He’s a surfacer through and through, and lashes out with anger if anyone says anything “too dwarfy” to him, which is ridiculous because he is a dwarf. But according to him he’s “not like those dwarves.”
The Cadash family was powerful, and Edric was destined for greatness. His older sister was a genius with daggers as soon as she’d touched them, and knew her way around the business before she’d even hit puberty. Edric idolized her in the way any younger sibling did, and he was never far off her heels. Then came his time to choose his weapon and officially start his Cadash training. Eight years old and with no other wants except for being just like his sister, he chose the daggers, and his family beamed at him so hard he felt like he couldn’t live without that happiness. That’d been the last time he felt any of them were truly proud of him; no matter how hard he practiced he was always just sub par, and at some point Edric stopped caring. No parents breathing down his back, no disappointed looks from his hero, no crushing failure baring down on his chest. He lived in his sister’s shadow and drifted so off into obscurity that by the time he turned fifteen most didn’t even know they were related, even the ones that had known him as a child. He considers himself a failure with no hope, but his pride doesn’t let himself just fall. He can’t even grow himself a decent beard, but he’s been trying since he was fifteen anyway.
It’s not all bad though; being a Carta grunt suits him. He’s lucky when he gambles, and he’s always up for a game of cards (Provided he’s winning—he gets cranky when he’s not). Jokes come easy and often, and he gains a sense of camaraderie pretty fast with anyone pretty low on the scale of things.
It was a case of being-in-the-right-place-at-the-right-time that had him accidentally catch a plot against Dasher, and Dasher rewarded him with more responsibility than he could actually handle. The conclave wasn’t the place for a low level grunt, even one with the Cadash name, but he was sent there regardless and now he had even more responsibility. Something out there really wanted him to crack, and he’d bet his leg it was his sister.
