First session of the year, Kirimeta at La Fosca beach...after breakfast, of course. Home developed in Rodinal +25 Ilford Delta 400, Yashica FX3 super 2000.... a great morning and to be continuned!

After @blueleopardcoaching just posted something about the things she has do.e.in her personal life that she would likely never have had to as a man. I thought it would be interesting, eye opening and good to raise awareness about women's safety in society! The #saraheverard tragedy this week has shocked the world, but I am sure you would be surprised to know that almost ALL of us have come close. Here's my list of #WhatUsWomenDo ...and I'm generally not nervous but this is just normal! We should all do a list like this! Let's make them see!! Tag every women you know. - pretended to be on the phone while walking alone if I was passing a loan male. - crossed to the other side to avoid coming close to a lone male. - kept looking back every 3 seconds until that male was out of sight. - put my keys in my fingers ready to be used as a weapon. - got a knife from the draw when I heard a noise when home alone. - turned back on a country walk when I realised my phone had no signal. - texted my location and cab number to a friend when I felt off in a cab alone. - allowed a man to be closer that my comfortable personal space at work as I didn't want to cause a scene and make him disgruntled. - gone into a shop or taken a different route when I didn't need to just to avoid men. - driven to a further away shop or cafe because there were lots of men outside the one I had planned to visit. - not got in an elevator as there was a man inside alone. - ran up stairs to ensure I beat the elevator and didn't have to walk with him. - stopped to 'tie my shoe' to let a men get ahead. - put a coat or scarf on when getting out of car just to cover up in case men 'get the wrong idea'. - almost ran out of fuel as I didn't want to stop at a deserted auto petrol station late at night. - scrambled to get in my car and lock my doors in a parking area at night. The list is honestly endless. Haven't felt right about posting much this week as the news has unfolded around Sarah. Her poor family, my heart goes out to them 💕. May she rest in peace 🙏🏽. And reading stories from/of women about their own fears around safety and who have been followed, hassled, assaulted, murdered, and hearing all those names read out in Parliament... it's just too much. The tone deaf response from some of the male contingent 🙄... it proves that it really is a man's world. We need to continue to break down the misogynistic constructs within our society so that it becomes an equitable world for future generations, and the heavy burden is on our shoulders as women to keep pushing for this.
