Akarshana Sathish, who is only 13 years old, is the main organizer of a movement for reading and empowering education with Seva Bharathi’s support. Recently, she inaugurated her 16th library in Neredmet, Secunderabad, marking yet another achievement in her mission to make books and knowledge available to people who cannot afford to buy books.
Her mission started at the age of 9, Akarshana went to MNJ Cancer Children’s Hospital in Hyderabad and saw the children’s eagerness to read. Inspired by this, she began requesting books from her relatives, friends, and neighbors to create a small initiative offering books to those in need.. This program increased in the number of years and now AKARSHANA distributing over 10000+ books to the state of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Today, books in Hindi, English, and Telugu are available in various places, including hospitals, orphanages, police stations and community centers.
