@sinisternocturne continued from here
Asriel’s brow rose in curiosity as Edward continued. His head turned away from the leaf and to the pale skin of the vampire. His words were simple, and even in this, in confused him. Asriel knew nothing of the God many humans believed in until he came to the city. After some research and reading he found out more. He read much of this Bible people always refereed to and it just puzzled him. There were so many contradictions and big words he couldn’t understand. Religion and gods were so much more complicated than he thought. Human culture was so strange and so delicate.
Destiny and fate always seemed to tie into this. Humans, or at least those that lived on the surface, were always picking apart their lives to find the meaning. Asriel would never get in the way of that if it brought them happiness. He just had a hard time understanding. Maybe Edward could teach him a little bit.
“Like coming to the city,” he mused, “Do you think the scientists are Gods, then? Or collectively one God? Or just his creations?”
God was pretty sick if he created the scientists.
“I don’t want to trust anyone that created... This.” He flung his arms up vaguely, referring to the whole simulation they were living in. “Maybe God doesn’t even control this. His creations were flawed,” Asriel was a flawed creation himself, he understood, “But if he can control this, why doesn’t he get us out? And if he can’t control all of this, who makes his destiny? And why is he so... Mean?”
Asriel knew why a God would be so cruel. He had seen it with his own eyes, committed the acts with his own hands. Someone with god like power, someone who sees everything, someone who can manipulate in one way or another. He couldn’t imagine anyone TRUSTING or LOVING a GOD other than out of fear. A God, and not just the God, would have to get tired of the same thing every time.
“Although... I guess even a GOD gets bored eventually.”
Asriel’s hands returned to the leaf, a solid place for him to gaze in thought. All of this was hurting his mind. If this God wanted what was best for everyone, why did such terrible things happen to people?
