chapter 19: AMS Bank with Kiryuu alive
[NOTE: The old dead-Kiryuu version of this scene is here; I fixed a few lines up from my previous translation.]
The empty bank was eerily quiet.
Maybe the heater was off, but the night air crept in, hideously cold.
/The empty bank was eerily silent.
Perhaps because the heater was off, the cold night air stole in and gave [Atsuki] the chills./

Backup is complete!
I powered up Psycho- viewing directivity,
[Natsuki:] [We’ve] finished preparing [your] backup!
I’ve boosted the directivity of my Psycho-Viewing to its maximum limit.
----
so if a mouse moves,
I’ll be sure to catch it.
[Natsuki:] So if even a single mouse is there...
I’ll be able to pick up on its movement.
----
Leave enemy movement & Shinen changes to me.
I’ll report as soon as anything happens.
[Natsuki:] So leave the enemy’s movements and Thought changes to me.
I’ll let you know as soon as anything happens.
-----
Ah, it’s here!
This looks bad...
[Natsuki:] ...Oh, there’s something!
This could be dangerous...
------
A strong bloodlust is coming towards you.
It’s right there... Be careful, Atsuki!
[Natsuki:] There’s something coming towards you, like a super powerful desire to kill.
It’s closing in fast... Look out, Atsuki!
-----
The cold feeling makes it harder, as it clings to Atsuki’s body.
The air is freezing cold. It feels as if something is about to appear.
A person’s shadow rises from the darkness.
/The frigid sensation grew more intense and tightened keenly around Atsuki’s body.
The air was so cold it felt like it was freezing. [Atsuki felt] the presence of something unknown, about to appear.
Somebody’s form emerged slowly from the darkness./
[note: 人影 is literally “person + shadow”, but it refers to a person’s outline, not the actual shadow they cast on the ground.]
------
Oh, this is a surprise.
I expected a lowly sort of repowriter,
but here is a classy, intelligent young man!
[Edward:] Oh, this is unexpected.
I was expecting something more like an uncouth eyewitness journalist.
But quite the contrary! You seem quite the polished, intelligent young man.
[note: I’m.... pretty sure repowriter isn’t actually an English word, anywhere?? Not sure how it made it all the way into the voiced lines too. Apparently it’s a little different from a journalist, in that a ルポライター is on-the-spot coverage that remains as objective as possible. You may notice it’s pronounced with a rupo instead of a ripo; that’s because it’s from the French reportage, not the English reporting.]
-----
Why would a boy like you think to extort us?
If you want money, I could help a boy of such talent.
[Edward:] What would give a young man like you the idea to try blackmailing us?
If you want money, I’m more than ready to aid such a talented young man.
------
I have many subordinates with various abilities.
I’ve given them so much help and cooperation.
[Edward:] I have many skilled subordinates with different types of abilities.
I’ve given them tremendous amounts of assistance and cooperation.
------
Enough money to relax for the rest of their lives.
And frankly, isn’t that why you’re here?
[Edward:] Enough money to live in idleness for the the rest of their lives.
Let’s make a long story short. You’re here to propose something like that, aren’t you?
------
The cold gets thicker, and the air fills with an ominous feeling.
If Atsuki drops his guard, he’ll fall into it.
/The chill, grim atmosphere thickened, and a sinister mood filled the air.
If [Atsuki] relaxed, he would collapse./
------
It’s obvious that he’s working his Shinen.
/It was clear that the other man was manipulating [Atsuki’s] Thoughts./

{ROUTE 1: KIRYUU DEAD. (In this case, the text is found at the end of the bank_19 file; I assume this means that this version of the scene has Edward just standing there and using his full sprite. In the Japanese version, some of the dialogue is the same between the dead Kiryuu and living Kiryuu versions, but because the text is stored in different files, it was translated differently in the English version.)
You don’t have to tell me.
Whether you can stand up in the face of Death or not
will tell me what kind of person you are.
[Edward:] Heh heh heh, there’s no need to speak.
The fact that you're capable of standing here, where an ordinary human would risk fainting in terror...
...that alone tells me who and what you are.

I relied on the Fort for the Hibiki Kiryu incident.
This time, I’ll have them over. Come wth me...
[Edward:] The good people of FORT took care of the Kiryuu Hibiki matter for me.
This time, I'm the one extending an invitation. Come with me, now.
[NOTE: This part is really annoying me because it makes it sound like HE was the one who left that Residual Thought at the Liu Yee-Hibiki fight, and then showed up at the hospital because he wanted to get rid of loose ends. But that was actually Graham!]

{ROUTE 2: Kiryuu is alive. (In this case, because Atsuki is also talking, the scene turns into one of the "talking heads" sequences, and its text is stored in the scene002 file. Some of these lines are identical to the first version in Japanese, but because the text was translated separately, they sound different in the English version.)
Hehe, no need to say it.
Most people are afraid of losing something.
That’s why Sunawachi told me about his lineage.
[Edward:] Heh heh heh, there’s no need to speak.
The fact that you're capable of standing here, where an ordinary human would faint in terror...
...that alone tells me your identity.
[NOTE: Okay... here's the answer to the Sunawachi thing. The translator read the third line as "Sunawachi-kun", but it's supposed to be read as "sunawachi kimi".]
-----
Just like Kiryu, I may also be infected by Silent.
He saved me.
[ATSUKI:] Will I be infected by Silent like Kiryuu?
He was saved.
------
It would’ve been better if our minds had been eaten.
To just be infected and left alone.
After a while, he won’t even be himself anymore.
[ATSUKI:] I guess it was actually better that he had his mind eaten by one of our members.
If he'd gone on like that with an untreated Silent infection...
His inner self could have vanished one day.
-------
There comes a time when you have no self control.
You can’t even call that a living being.
[ATSUKI:] Well, when you're being controlled by someone else's Thoughts that are different from your own will...
...that's not really "living" at all.

The men & women of Fort took over Kiryu’s case.
This time I’m inviting you. Please come with me.
[Edward:] The good people of FORT took care of the Kiryuu Hibiki matter for me.
This time, I'm the one extending an invitation. Come with me, now.
