My absolute favorite thing about OFMD's portrayal of Blackbeard was the choice to cast an actor who is both Indigenous (Māori) and Jewish as a fearsome pirate who terrorizes English and Spanish naval ships, whose empires were historically responsible for the oppression of both groups. 😍

I don't know why it took OFMD for me to realize how hot Taika Waititi is. I mean, I never thought he was bad-looking man by any means. It's just not something I really thought about back when I was a casual fan of his works. Maybe it was seeing him in long hair and leather that made me stop in my tracks and think "wait what the fuck- why is he hot?" It wasn't until like early season 2 when I realized this. Now I'm like noticing how gorgeous he always has been in literally every thing I watch with him.
