As much as I genuinely do respect acting as an artform and a highlight of the human experience, I think I hate it for the exact same reason. Like, what do you mean The Character, the builder of worlds, irl is a guy that doesn't look anything like him, and wears orange shoes, life is pain.

sigh thinking about the reality of immortality again. thinking about characters getting blasted back in time a good several thousand years and forced to interact with people they loved so much but have moved on from so thoroughly. they dont keep them in their hearts always, they dont think about them and miss them every day, and the guilt about that eats them alive. character who meets the eye of someone they loved, someone who loves them still, and feels nothing. and then feels guilt.

you’ve heard of the character who kills the old version of themselves, now how about the one who paints on layer by layer of a new persona until the shape of the original version of themselves is no longer there and sometimes paint shades bleed through and you would have to pry and scrape and chisel and cut your way through to find who they used to be but it is still in there
