"Package delivery." One guy announces, a bit hesitant while looking at the tall, well built security guard by the front door of a building. His eyes stares unconsciously, obviously intimidated by this man in front of him. A lot of thoughts plays through his mind.
"I.D." the man's voice was even more scarier. He barely even pull out his identification card and thankfully it didn't slip off his hand through the process.
"H-Here," and handed him the rectangular card. His mind flew as he continue wondering what could have been so special for this small, normal looking, publishing company that they hired a security guy this buff.
If he didn't saw the big old sign that says "PARADOX PUBLISHING COMPANY" moments ago, he might mistaken the place for a bank.
While he's busy waiting anxiously for his package to be received, you walked silently, steps so light they aren't even aware that someone has arrived. Greg, the security guy noticed you first and he glanced at your way. A small nod is what you offered and he opened the glass door for you with no sweat.
The guy in front looked over his shoulder in curiosity and his eyes settled, amused. You dressed pretty casual for an office setting so he figured you're not working in the building.
"Good morning, Greg." you greet him as you walk over the glass door.
"They've been waiting for you, Milan." was the only thing he says before handing back the I.D. card to the delivery guy.
You didn't say anything else and just walked straight to the elevator. The cctv camera inside pans over to your direction and you're kind enough to flash a sweet smile before waving a little. After a couple of seconds, you've arrived on the right floor and you walked straight towards the door to the end part of the floor. Your steps are bold, non hesitant, and seems like its moving on its own. Pretty familiar to the place you're walking on.
The sharp buzz of the door unlocking erupts as it opens for you. The first thing you've noticed inside the dim-lit conference room was Jay's piercing gaze across the table. There's a couple of people inside already, most of them are familiar and just like in moments ago you gave them a small wave.
Jake is occupying the seat beside Jay and his eyes are bore on his laptop as usual, fingers working nonstop and the corner of his lips lifted up in the slightest. "You're late, Y/n." he commented with a playful tone.
You snorted before heading to the vacant chair beside Sunghoon who has his head slumped on the table, probably taking a nap.
This kind of scene should feel intimidating, but none of you felt that way. Maybe taken from multiple experiences, this almost became part of your life… a routine.
"Oh come on, Jakey. It's just a couple of minutes." you chirped a bit too cheerful for the atmosphere of the whole room. He scoffed and Jay kept his strict eyes darted at your direction.
"Don't push his buttons today, Y/n. He's a little pissed that his vacation is cut short." Jake says, before leaning back to his chair and smirking at you.
Even before you can say something, Sunghoon lifts his head and talked. "Stop calling her by that name, Jake."
"It's just us. No need to address her as Milan." Jake pointed out, before he tilts his head over to the side. "Why did you even chose Milan, Y/n?"
You rolled your eyes because of his question as his grin just grew wider. He knew it pisses you off whenever he ask you that question. Out of all the people inside this conference room, Jake Sim is the smartest one. His memory is probably as sharp as a blade. He already knew the reason behind your code name and he just ask that question to get into your nerves.
Now that your smile completely worn out from your face, his smile appears.
Even before you can hiss at him, the door of the conference room abruptly opened and a few more people went inside. Including Captain Lee. His face stern and blank while he roam his eyes all over the room, like as if checking if everybody have arrived already. His eyes grazed your way a few seconds.
"I know you missed each other for your two months vacation, but we have a new important mission." his strict, cold tone sent direct shivers in your spine. You've already known Mr. Lee for years, but you could never get used to it.
"Seven weeks and three days." Sunghoon stated while staring at the pen he's playing with.
Mr. Lee's eyes pans at him and didn't comment about it, but instead ordered another staff to distribute the files he prepared for your group. The girl employee's eyes are obviously looking at Sunghoon like as if she's stripping him naked.
He act ignorant of it and just nonchalantly goes through the file. It’s a familiar scene already, nothing to make a fuss about. You smirked and felt a bit playful today and so you extended your arm before resting your hand on Sunghoon's arm.
He glanced at your direction right away before looking back at his folder. His free hand reached for your chair and effortlessly pulled you closer to him. You smirked before laying your head on his shoulder. While all of that was unfolding, the girl stared at you with pure envy and you just smiled at her sweetly.
She exits the conference room after distributing the folders and you can only chuckle for, yet another victory. Jake saw all of it happen and just chuckle. He's so used to these things that you and Sunghoon always pull off. Honestly, he doesn't mind at all. He loves a little drama in his life.
Jay just shakes his head side to side, a small grin present over the corner of his lips.
Mr. Lee lets out a sigh before signalling another employee to start the projection for the mission.
"You two still putting a show to people?" he asks.
"Just sometimes." you flash him a proud smile while Sunghoon just stayed silent. His hand on your waist while caressing it softly.
Other people may misunderstood all this as something serious, but to all of you it was just nothing.
All of your eyes darted at the presentation when it started flashing an all capital letters that says 'CONFIDENTIAL'.
"Ooh, sounds fun." you mumble softly and sat properly.
“You’re being activated for a Level A operation.” Mr. Lee started and even gestured his hand over to the slide where it shows some detailed information for the said mission.
It looks intriguing and you're pretty sure its an important mission that the agency has to pull your team for this one. You can't really remember when is the exact date that you joined this job. It's not like you have any choice.
Life is tough, this world is unfair. You're an orphan for as long as you can remember and multiple times you've got yourself in trouble just to survive life. In the end, this agency found you unconscious after being starved for days.
They raised you and in return you work for them as a secret agent. You were trained and grouped with Jake, Jay and Sunghoon. The four of you has been together since you are kids.
Jay’s eyebrow lifted, amused. “Level A?” he asks, more like asking for confirmation. “It’s been years since they pulled one of those.”
"Hold on…" Sunghoon slightly raised his hand to catch everyone's attention. "you want us to capture someone?" he raised his eyebrow at Mr. Lee like as if he couldn't believe what he's reading on his folder.
Jake scoffs, "Ey, Mr. Lee. Don't you think this job is too easy for us?" he may sound a bit too arrogant with what he just said, but everybody inside the conference room pretty much aware of what's the capability of your group.
Mr. Lee gave him a short nod of acknowledgement, “This started as a small operation and was given to the lower ranked team but then most of them failed to complete the mission and as the headquarters asked us to investigate,” he stops mid-sentence to let out a heavy sigh. "it turns out this is more serious than they expected."
You straighten up from your chair, getting more drawn into this matter. Your head tilted over to the side in curiosity. This sounds really interesting. A lot of teams failing the mission when it sounded too simple? Seems like problem and trouble. Exciting.
"Please continue, Mr. Lee." Jay, the leader of your team propped his chin slightly.
You leaned forward, making Sunghoon's hand slipped from your waist a bit. He glanced at your direction and he smirks after seeing the excitement through your eyes. Jake's gaze diverted towards you as well and he grins.
They returned their attention back to the slides when Mr. Lee tapped on a photo that doesn't really look like a photo of someone at all. It was a blurry image of someone. Almost like a shadow figure standing during a chaos of an explosion.
The figure is pretty eye catchy as he's the only one who seemed too calm in such commotion. For some reasons, staring at the blurry image gave you the chills. There's just something with the way this person stand—like they hold so much power.
"The explosion from one of our warehouses? That was last Saturday, right?" he asks Mr. Lee.
He nods, as expected from Jake. Despite being in a vacation, he's still updated with what's happening around him. He's one of those people they call workaholic.
"Yes, and it's best believe that he's the mastermind for what occurred that day. Also with the incident in our warehouse at Daeju and Busan."
Jay sighs and rest his back over to his chair, "Sounds like he is a problem."
“The target has no confirmed identity, has no clear image.” Hiro interrupted, he's Mr. Lee's assistant and he's mostly who gathers important data for him. "We did our research of course, but every image we’ve gathered has either been edited, corrupted, or destroyed to be helpful." he sounded so disappointed.
"So you mean this man has done so much damage and yet he managed to move like shadow leaving with no trace?"
Your brows furrowed. You've never heard someone to be this mysterious, at least not when it comes to your researchers. Jay glanced at Jake who's eyes are fixed at the picture displayed in front. There's this bothered expression through his eyes like he's also getting the chills you've had while looking at it.
"Jake?" he asks.
Jake lets out a sigh, "That's Nishimura Riki. I'm still astounded how he kept his identity so hidden despite the chaos he has been causing to his rivals. What I do know is that he's behind the largest drug and weapons network on the continent. He's our top competitor and his consumers are big personalities. Even the government are no match for him. He's got politicians, other mafias, and the government in his pocket."
"Oh damn, this dude is dangerous." Sunghoon commented but it doesn't seem like he's in fear.
"We've tried almost everything just to get a hold of this guy. Nothing is successful so far."
Jake let out a low whistle. “So, what makes this time different from all your failed attempts?”
Hiro’s lips curved into something that you couldn't even claim as a smile. “Because we’re not chasing him anymore, but instead we will set a trap for him.”
Then Mr. Lee roamed his eyes over the four of you, "And this time we've got the best team."
And he sounded so confident as he say those words. Sunghoon tilted his head slightly, the faintest smirk ghosting his lips.
"What's the plan?" Jay asks, getting straight to the point.
Hiro waits for Mr. Lee's signal before he reached for a button on the control pad. The lights dimmed and a holographic map of the whole city flickers in front of you. “We tracked several shipments to this area and managed to pull some strings and got the location for his next transactions."
None of you said a thing and just kept your focus on the locations that Han is showing.
"Somebody tipped us that Nishimura's moving something big in two weeks. Now, it seems like this man loves throwing parties for his buddies and clients before a big shipment. As expected he will be hosting one this time as well. This will serve as our window.”
The whole group stayed silent for a while, just listening carefully for the plan being laid out on them. Since they're a well experienced team, they're usually used to this routine and if ever they don't like anything on the plan or found any loop holes about it, they will change it by their liking. Most of the time, the agency will just let them as they knew their abilities more than anyone.
"So you want us to capture this guy?" Sunghoon asked, tilting his head over to the side.
Mr. Lee glanced at him, "That would be great, but I'm afraid it would be impossible to get ahold of him in just one shot. For this mission we just have to get him identified, get his appearance right for once."
“All this planning just to get someone's identity,” Sunghoon muttered under his breath, basically summarizing everything.
“Exactly, meaning he's someone we should underestimate.” Hiro stated, more like warns them.
“We managed to get you some ticket to that party and you will be there to observe and gather information we need about this man.”
“You got us tickets? How?” you asked, tone sounding a bit more suspicious than curious.
Jake threw you a short glance with acknowledgement—like you just read his mind or something. "Y/n is right. We're all aware how this man hasn't been caught at all so we should just assume he probably have the most strict rules when it comes to these occasions. How come you managed to get ticket so easily?"
Hiro looked taken aback at how fast you two has noticed that detail, but he tries to keep a straight face, pursing his lips into a thin line. Mr. Lee kept a tight eye-contact with Jake before dragging his gaze towards your direction. There's an emotion that flashed over his eyes for a split seconds, but even before you can make up what it is, it was long gone.
"Like you said, they may have a strict rules and so we followed it. We have one person disguised as an important client for him." Mr. Lee says.
Though a bit skeptical, he dismissed any more chances of more questions. Eventually, they have diverted the attention to what's more important—the mission.
Jay's brows are furrowed hardly it nearly meet each other, his jaw clenched, "So you want us to go identify this dangerous person?"
Mr. Lee nods his head.
Jake sat forward now, the playful smirk long gone and you can tell he still have this slightly bothered expression. “You’re saying we’ll get to see his face?”
“If you succeed,” Hiro said simply. “But also take note that this mission have its consequences. This person is very dangerous and so knowing his identity can only mean danger follows you around." again, nothing new for any of you. At this point, danger is like part of your life already.
Non of you spoke or complains. Hiro expected it and even distributed another set of papers.
"Also this mission is a bit more complicated. We can offer some back up, but not in near sight as it may seem so too obvious. We couldn't risk getting caught.”
Jay was the first to react, running a hand through his dark hair. “Guess that’s why they called for us,” he said, his tone light but his expression deadly serious.
Hiro closed the file with a sharp click. “I would suggest you prepare yourselves. We can go through the details after two-hours.”
He turned over Jake Sim, the brain of your team. "Anything you want to change, Bane?" Hiro asks, addressing him through his code name.
Jake stays quiet for a while before he nods his head and sliding a piece of paper towards him. You didn't even notice how he's taken some notes from the brief discussion of the whole plan—notes of things he wants to change. And as Hiro entertains his ideas, Jay stayed quiet and your eyes drifted on the staff who entered with some snacks.
“You’ve been quiet,” Sunghoon said as he reached for a snack. “What’s on your mind?”
Jay glanced at his direction and shakes his head, "Just preparing my mind for the mission."
"Are you scared?" you blurted out and tilted your head on the side.
His piercing eyes almost sliced through you, but you just flash your sweet smile at him. Jay isn't the type to back out from anything. He's very brave and if your memory is right, you haven't seen him actually looking scared.
"I'm scared you'll mess up and end up getting your ass in trouble." he fired back right at you that made you shoot glares towards him.
Sunghoon choked in a laugh, trying to look like he's focused on that stupid snack he has in his hand. You grabbed a small biscuit and throws it over Jay's direction which he caught effortlessly with a small grin on his face.
Eventually, Hiro run all of you through the whole plan once again along with some of Jake's revisions. The table that was flashing with the map of the city moments ago has now changed into a floor plan of a fancy hotel building. Just by looking at it, your head starts to ache already. The three boys kept their eyes darted on it, analyzing it while your mind slightly wonders off somewhere.
You lifted your gaze from the hologram that are still glowing faintly on the table. “If he’s untouchable,” you said slowly, “then that just means we have to take a step closer towards him. The closer we get towards him, the dangerous it gets.”
Sunghoon gave a faint, a teasing smile. “Are you starting to get scared now, Milan?”
You didn’t answer but looked at him sharply before rolling your eyes.
“I just want to make sure everyone is well aware of the danger we're getting ourselves into.”
Jake grinned faintly. “Appreciate that from you.” he says more sarcastically than genuine.
Jay stood next, stretching with confidence oozing from all over his body. “Well then, let's go catch ourselves a ghost mafia.”
You stood up and Sunghoon's already waiting on your side, throwing his arm over your shoulder to pull you closer to his body before the four of you walked out together, silent, purposely synchronized.
Time passes by too fast when you're preparing for something. Even before you know it, you and Sunghoon are inside a van preparing for the mission you're about to fulfill today.
One staff assists you into giving you coms that are hidden in disguised to a fancy earring that matches your beautiful dress. It was a champagne color dress that is ridiculously tight and has a high slit on the right leg.
Sunghoon whistles lowly after seeing your costume for the day. He’s currently on the process of putting his—a waiter. A very handsome, smoking hot waiter. You bet some girls might be eyeing him instead of those dirty old rich man inside that venue.
You smirked and tilt your head over to the side while adjusting your comms. “Now, don’t get too excited there big boy.”
He chuckles and smirks at you. “You shouldn’t be worrying about me, worry about the men inside that will surely prey on you later.” he stated before you hear the static sound from the device you’re hooked on.
Eventually you heard Jake’s voice from the other line. “I see you two are getting hyped up already. How’s the comms working for you, Milan?” he asks.
“Good, Bane. I could clearly hear your annoying voice.” you teased while the other staff now puts up a privacy curtain for you to change into your outfit for tonight.
Sunghoon laughs and even lets out a small disappointed groan, “What’s with the curtain? You’re ruining the show.”
The staffs glanced at him with ears turning red that only made you chuckle. The two of you are so used at messing up with people to the point they’ll actually think you’re hitting it up with each other.
“Shut up, Suwon.” Jake interrupts, calling Sunghoon through his code name. “You’re disgusting.”
Jake pushes his glasses upwards as his eyes stay glued to the multiple monitor in front of him, fingers tapping nonstop while a second cup of coffee sat on the side of his table. He’s inside of an apartment a few blocks from the venue that now serves as a temporary base for this operation.
A few more extra staff lingers for assistance and just in case they needed some back up for this. The whole room looked busy, everyone at their right places and making sure none of them will make a mistake.
Jay stood in front of big monitor that shows a live feed of cctv's that Jake manages to hacked into. It will serve as eyes for the mission. He’s holding a tablet with his usual leader posture, calm and precise.
“Enough play time, Milan.” Jay’s cold tone rings through your comms right on time you managed to slip into your dress.
“You’ve got one rule tonight,” he follows. “Blend.”
The curtains covering you was shoved open while the staff starts to do final touch-ups on you as you listen carefully on Jay’s monologue.
“Don’t start anything. The only mission for tonight is to identify our target. No need to engage, no need to approach. If you see the tattoo, confirm discreetly. We get his face, we pull away from the scene like nothing happened. No attention drawn to us. We extract quietly.” his voice was low and steady.
“Copy that, captain.”
Jake speaks this time, “I’ll have eyes for you Milan, don’t worry.” he said, tone very convincing. You aren’t worried one bit.
When your team was made, the first thing you learned together is to trust each other. You’ve been through a lot of missions before, easy ones and hard ones. Not once did they ever let you down.
“I put some toys inside your bag for you to use. Some for protection just incase things escalates unexpectedly, and one for capturing the face of our target.” he says.
“You sure the security won’t be able to detect it inside my bag? The party strictly prohibits recording inside the venue.” it was a very private gathering, considering who’s attending it isn’t surprising for you at all. They wanted to protect these personalities so bad.
“Don’t worry. It’s disguised as one of your cosmetics and so I doubt they’ll be able to detect that.” he confirmed that eased you completely.
Sunghoon struts closer to you and even rest a blazer over your shoulder before smiling a little.
“I’ll be your shadow inside,” he says. “If you need something quietly moved, I’m the one handling it.” you nodded and smiled at him in return.
You and Sunghoon are now dropped on each of your posts where you will enter the venue. As you’re about to get in line for the visitor security, Sunghoon talks through the comms.
“Same rule, Milan. Prioritize your safety. Don’t forget our escape plans in case something gets out of control. If something happens to me, you get out.” he says using his usual cold tone.
Even before you can even say something, Jay’s voice rings through your ears.
“Let me just give you a final run through the descriptions about this
"You guys ready?" a slight excitement lingers over Jake's tone that made a small smirk crawl over your glossed lips.
"Ready." Sunghoon answered first. "I'm ready." you said after.
"All right, it's showtime guys." Jay mumbled.
You already expected the party to be fancy as this will be filled with well known and rich personalities, but your lips still gapped at the sight of the venue. The chandeliers hanged above shines so bright that added to the vibe of the whole place. Men in expensive looking tailored suits are scattered everywhere.
If you aren't a secret agent, you would've accepted this gig as a sideline just to find yourself a sugar daddy. They're obviously married man or if not, divorced, trying to find themselves some young, fresh, beautiful girl. Creepy.
Your eyes wandered carefully, making sure not to look anything near suspicious. This is not new for you anymore and so it was pretty easy for you to blend in. Just a few minutes inside and you managed to catch some eyes already. Despite the blasting music surrounding you, your senses remained heightened, aware and sharp.
"Don't get distracted, Milan. Remember your target; mid-forties, have a tattoo on his neck." Jay's voice ringed through your ears and you almost roll your eyes, but instead you flashed a sweet smile towards one man a few table away from you then wave.
"I know what I'm doing, cap. Don't worry too much." you subtly responded and resumed on observing around.
"I've got sight on you, Milan. But these security has better blockers than I expected so try to stay inside my view if you can." Jake interrupts.
"Got it."
"Stay alert. These men gives me the creeps." Sunghoon chimed in and you noticed him holding a tray of wine while heading towards the left part of the venue.
You flirted just enough for you to blend in-- enough to attract, but never to drive them any closer.
After a while of roaming around and fake-flirting with some of the men, you have sight several men that quite matched the description of your target. Tall, tattoo on the neck, probably in their forties. It should have been a help, but it only make you feel frustrated.
It just made things more complicated. They do match these physical descriptions but even before you can decide if they are what you looking for, there's something that doesn't sit right for you. Sometimes its their posture, the way they interact or even their aura itself. It just didn't fit for the dangerous man that sent direct shivers down to your spine the moment you stared at the blurry picture taken from the bombing incident recently.
Except for one guy…
Your eyes slowly darted back at where you last caught his stares.
There… right across the room, shadowed on the more quiet part of the venue, leaning against one of the tables while holding a glass of dark wine on his hand. Tall, well-built, a tattoo on his neck, young. There's no way he's in his forties, but there's something in his dark stares that makes your stomach churns. His dark hair sexily brushed back, a few strands fell just enough to shadow his eyes.
He was not the center of attention, yet he wasn't out of place either. He blended too well and if you don't know any better, you would've just shrug it all off. But there's something about how cold his stares that peaks your interest, like he mastered the art of presence and invisibility in the same time.
Your stares remains for a bit long as these thoughts plays inside your mind and a small smirk curved on his lips, lazy and slow. Like as if he knew exactly what you're thinking.
It made your stomach twist in an uncomfortable way, pulling strings in your heart and instinct kicking in, giving you an immediate impression to retrieve now.
You swallowed hard and tried hard to break eye-contact, but his stares are deep and hypnotizing. The more you stare at him, the more everything starts to fall right into their places.
He was young, definitely not in his forties like how your target has been described but you noticed how the whole place silently revolved around him. Men shifts in the subtlest way when he moved. He doesn't speak much, but one tilt of his or hand sign from him sent a few men in new different positions.
Your breath hitched as it suddenly clicked. The man that most of the people assumed to be mafia boss is just a decoy.
The real one? He wasn't in his forties. He is young.
Nishimura Riki is young and he's staring directly at you.
"It's him." you mumbled slightly in trance.
"Who? Milan." Jay responded quickly.
You glanced away, acting cool and even smile sweetly at some other men you met eyes with.
"Which one, Milan? The guy on the dark suit?" Jake chimed, "I don't think its him. He looked a lot younger." he disagrees.
"That's him. Target identified. I repeat, Nishimura Riki identified." and you even played it cool how you direct your cosmetic on his way.
You noticed Sunghoon on a few tables away and he's glancing at you a little then his eyes divert on Nishimura Riki's direction.
"Y/n, that can't be right. He doesn't fit our description. He's too young--" you cut through his sentence.
"Trust me." then you swallowed hardly. "It's him." and you didn't waste any more second before you turn your heels and head towards one of the exit without trying to look weird or catching any attention.
"J-Jake, code red. Extract me out of here." you mumble, shivers running down your spine--the same way when you first saw that blurry picture.
You felt his eyes burning holes at the back of your head and your fingers brush your hair naturally before letting your eyes trail back at him just to check if he's really looking.
Fuck.
You uttered inside your mind. It was a mistake to even glanced back as you saw him pushed himself off from leaning over the table before bee-lining your steps. It made your stomach fell.
"T-Target's on me. I repeat, target's on me." you mumble, trying not to sound too hysterical despite the drumming of your own heart.
This isn't the first dangerous mission you've been into, but the way his stares hold so much darkness makes you tremble like its your first time on the job. It's been a while ever since you've felt this way again and your team-mates can sense through your tone pretty easily. Sunghoon caught and tried to back you up in the most subtle way, but its hard when he's trapped between in a situation as well.
"Jake, guide Y/n out of here." he whispers, finally catching on this strange energy that makes him feel on edge. And he isn't the type to feel uneasy or scared easily.
"On it." Jake respond too quickly.
"Hey, Y/n. We got you, okay? Don't worry, I got my eyes on you. I'll lead and clear your way out." Jake continues to recite comforting words for you to somehow ease your mind, but you're just too focused on getting away from him.
You can still feel Riki’s stare burning against your back as you moved. You let your fingers brush your hair, let your hips sway just enough not to look suspicious or tensed, then very slowly let your eyes trail back to him as if checking if he's still after you.
He is and he looked so relaxed while stalking behind you. It made your heart race, with the way his dark eyes pierced straight at you, like a predator finally finding its prey and now hunting them.
You head towards the back corridors connected to the private suites. You didn’t look back, because you could still feel his overwhelming presence following you.
Jay’s voice rings through the coms this time, calm but firm,
“We’re tracking you. Lead him to corridor C and—”
Static. Then it was followed with a harsh crackle. And then—nothing.
Your comms suddenly died. It never happened before. Jake always checks through the equipment thoroughly to make sure it won't cause any problem once you're using it.
“Bane?” you softly calls Jake using his code name. Nothing.
“Captain? Are you there?” your tone laced with panic.
“Jake, please respond—” now you used even his name out of fear.
Silence.
You looked over your shoulder and felt your world tilt after realizing that he's not behind you anymore. He's not tailing you and he's nowhere to be found. Now, you're left all alone in a long hallway with multiple doors. The whole team already went through what rooms there are in this floor, but due to panic and fear slowly poisoning your ability to think properly your mind went blank.
You turned a corner, feeling so lost and unsafe. You felt very vulnerable by the sudden lost of contact with your team. You're well trained how to deal with such situations, but the flashbacks of Nishimura Riki's stare makes your head fuzzy.
You're greeted by a fancy corridor stretched like a maze. Identical doors that made feel sick in the stomach, making you feel dizzy. Pulse starts to ring loud in your ears, blocking any instinct to decide on how to survive.
You saw one room with the door slightly open. Perfect. A place to hide, to calm your nerves so you can start to think of a way, to regroup.
You stepped inside without thinking twice then pressed your fingers to your ears in hopes to reconnect with your group.
“Jake? Cap? Sunghoon?” you tried calling them one by one.
“Jake, do you copy? I lost him. I repeat, I lost the target. Nishimura Riki—”
Click.
The door closed shut.
You froze, because its definitely not you who closed that door and its impossible for it to shut by itself.
Then slowly, from the darkest corner behind you, a shape emerged.
A tall shadow with broad shoulders. Then with long, confident strides, he slowly approached closer to where you are.
You twirled abruptly to face that person then stepped back instinctively as he stepped into the faint light.
Black hair. Cold eyes. That same small taunting smirk. The dangerous calm of someone who had never been prey for a single day in his life. A predator. A mafia boss.
He stared down at you.
“I’m here.”
Your blood ran cold, chills ran down your spine painfully while your limbs paralyze.
Now that you're this close to him. There's no doubt. You are terrifyingly not mistaken.
This man in front of you, this young, unreadable, composed man is Nishimura Riki.
And he had you cornered. Alone. All by yourself. With no single way to communicate with your team.
He took one step towards you, the air thickening turning heavier.
His eyes dropped to your lips, then slowly, carefully, to your eyes to meet your stare.
