the past couple of weeks have been really busy and lowkey stressful so i didn’t get to post! all these pics are from last week, in order: republica, praca da se, 2D hello kitty cafe in liberdade, random mall cafe in jardins, bontanikafe jardins, masp, pinacoteca, butantan institute vaccine museum and zoo. of these places, my favourites were probably pinacoteca and the butantan institute. pinacoteca was just so well curated, just so beautifully done. i loved the focus on black and indigenous art. i would recommend it to anyone visiting são paulo and i wish i could’ve spent more time there. while i love museums, i didn’t love masp as much. there was a huge line on the first floor for the monet exhibit, and of course i spent a good portion of my time there waiting for that and then rushed through it because haven’t we seen enough monet? how many more versions of the waterloo bridge do i need to see? don’t get me wrong, i see the value in his work but having been to a few big museums, i wanna see something different. i found the huge collection on the second floor of the masp to be overwhelming. as for the butantan institute, i was amazing to see the kind of work they do there and i loved seeing all the snakes!!! i got a snake necklace from the gift shop :)

i was actually supposed to be home last sunday but due to flight issues, i won’t be home until this friday :/ all my friends have already gone home and it’s hard navigating alone, especially with the language barrier. i’ve just been hiding out in my room and only going out for food. it feels really lonely. i can’t wait to be home with my gf and kitty.

took a lot of pics today. i woke up late and was almost half an hour late to class :( did our presentation and it went okay. went to mcdonald’s for lunch and got an ice cream with m&ms and caramel and chocolate sauces and waffle dipper thingies.

one of the usp students was kind enough to give us a tour of the med school at lunch (pics 2-4), it was so beautiful!!! you can even see the mountains in the background of the fourth pic.

after class, i got coffee and went to beco do batman with my classmate. everyone there spoke english, which was nice, but the stores were a bit expensive. i ended up getting a dress from a thrift store (the employee was so nice and told us their experience with the healthcare system), a magnet for my mom (she likes collecting fridge magnets from different places), and a lil gift for my gf. a lot of products there were weed themed lol

unfortunately i was feeling a bit sick today and when i got back to my airbnb, it hit me like a truck. i wont be home for another 3 weeks :( going to get something warm and cozy for dinner tomorrow

today was a very tiring day and i only got a few hours of sleep last night. we were on campus for almost 12 hours today!

got a tour of the campuses and learned how to do a test for dengue fever. the campus is so big that it took pretty much half the day. it’s the biggest university i’ve ever seen.

i also had breakfast, lunch, and dinner on campus. they had a special breakfast for us, but we just had the regular lunch and dinner at the cafeteria. it’s super cheap, about $0.50CAD but honestly, it didn’t taste great. they gave us goodie bags with brigadeiros though and that more than made up for it.

very tired today for some reason. had 2 lectures, one of which was from a professor who studied at the same university i used to go to and i literally wore a sweater from that university just yesterday. the lectures today were quite dense… i also saw a guy on the street wearing a university of toronto hoodie which was cool but i was in an uber so couldn’t talk to them.

today was literally just lectures and food. went home early to figure out the laundry situation and work on the presentation i’m doing tomorrow because i have to basically redo a bunch of it.

also how cool is the stuff they gave me with my sushi delivery order…

today we had a lecture about primary care in brazil and we saw some primary care clinics.

after class, we went to try caipirinhas but i only had one to try it and it was… definitely enough for me. enough for me to forget my camera at the bar 💔
