Heated Rivalry Hollanov Fic Rec Post #1
It's been crazy going through the Shane Hollander/Ilya Rozanov tag and seeing how fast authors are zooming to make fic. It's almost overwhelming how many new fics there are so I though a fic rec post may help :) this is purely a selection of fics I have read in the past week or so and enjoyed, I will create new posts for any more fics that I will get to in the future

how do you feel? by exogenesissymph | 10k, Teen, complete
No one is going to win a Pulitzer interviewing him, and Shane is okay with that. He spends most interviews rephrasing the same five sentiments--I’m happy we won or We need to work harder after that loss. They are a good team; the win was hard fought or They are a good team; there is a lot for us to take away. And finally: I love playing on this team, for our fans. Then Ilya Rozanov bursts into his life, and answering questions becomes a little more complicated. or: Shane Hollander, interviewee, throughout the years.
This is a great character study on Shane and how his relationship with interviews changes. Love the moment where he finally speaks back against their bullshit <3
Concussion Protocol by cjr2 | 20k, Explicit, incomplete
Instead of Shane, it is Ilya who suffers a concussion during the Boston-Montreal game in April 2017. Dazed and agitated, Ilya briefly starts speaking and responding only in Russian and the medics can’t calm him down. Luckily, Shane started studying Russian after Ilya spoke to him in Russian on the phone from Moscow. For no particular reason. Certainly not because he’s fallen in love with Ilya Rozanov. In Montreal with lingering concussion symptoms, Ilya is advised not to fly home for a few days, and the hospital won’t release him without assurances that he has someone to stay with him until his symptoms improve. Luckily, Shane conveniently has a condo in Montreal no one knows about and a few days before he has to travel again. But Ilya’s symptoms don’t resolve after a few days. Which is okay; Shane can handle it. He can take care of Ilya, study Russian, lead his team into the playoffs, and keep Ilya’s continued presence in Montreal a secret. He can do everything, no problem. He is Shane Hollander after all.
Instead of Ilya panicking after Shane gets hurt, this is Shane panicking after Ilya. A more severe injury means Ilya can't fly back so the only option is for him to stay with Shane. Love the h/c!

shayden enjoyer @pikespike 11m ago ok but did u guys SEE the way he rushed to defend his man??? ur telling me u dont have EYES????? #2 shane hollander kisser @shaydenism 8m ago no ur so valid that was a fight to the death before the refs got there hollanov real @g0v0yageurs 7m ago ur all freaks pike literally has like nine kids hollanov real @g0v0yageurs 6m ago not to mention the WIFE 🤢 shayden enjoyer @pikespike 2m ago theres no way a hollanov shipper is in my mentions rn calling ME a freak
A social media fic where the most popular in-world rpf ship for Shane is Shane/Hayden, not Shane/Ilya. Super funny and feels accurate to the extreme beef going on in rpf fandoms. Love to see the single Hollanov shipper being proven right in the end <3
Confidence, Poor Judgement, and a Death Wish by TheHeartWantsWhatTheHeartWants | 12k, Gen, incomplete
“Hey, Ilya?” Troy asks, already regretting it. “I was actually going to ask you about someone.” The moment he says Shane Hollander’s name, the locker room goes quiet, and Troy knows he’s crossed a line he didn’t fully understand. After that, everything becomes about damage control. Determined to prove he’s normal, chill, and absolutely not interested in his captain’s best friend, Troy commits to a simple plan: be around Shane as much as possible, in plain sight, and be cool about it. Which is a fine plan, until Troy realises there might be more here than meets the eye? It’s a reasonable question. Made, unfortunately, with something like a death wish.
Troy doesn't know about Hollanov and keeps getting stuck in awkward situations with Shane, where he thinks Ilya is mad at him for having come onto a straight guy. The misunderstandings are great and emotionally compelling and I can't wait to see where the author goes with this fic!
