Note taking and effective reading
”Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope. —Kofi Annan”
It is very important to take good notes during lectures. Especially in a way you can later interpret. I recently discovered mind maps. 'Coggle.it' Which are extremely useful and help avoid writers drift. These help to pick out various topics on the subject and focus on more detail to gain more marks for your work. I also learned that in order to read effectively you are required to read a piece 3 times over. The first time to read through it. The second to highlight the key notes or points you will be using and the third to focus on those points. I've learned that their are many reliable sources such as peered reviewed journal articles, academic books from key thinkers in their fields, interviews and biographies. How do i know the source is reliable?.
Also remember it's vitally important to pay attention to command words when been asked to do an assignment or exam. Words such as describe, outline, analyze, evaluate and discuss. They all have their own meanings. Click here to view some more.
