I am proud that people with platforms of influence are advocating for fundamental changes that affecting the policing of every citizen of every color. Beyond marches and protest videos, groups like this, #BLM and the #ACLU, #NAACP, need to start working on changing LAWS, demanding and securing changes to police enforcement training and accountability with regards to civilian shootings... Case in point, UNPAID leave of absence during investigation, independent review of evidence that sits OUTSIDE of government control, paid for by the precinct only to be reimbursed to the precinct if the review validates officer innocence, compensation for families of victims paid by the precinct the employs the officer(s) and more. Let's be clear there have been police officers killed and targeted by other officers when not in uniform. Police officers are citizens first and the officers of the law second. Their children, siblings and loved ones are just at as much risk of becoming a hashtag as non police family. They do not wear the uniform nor do they carry the badge. Hit them in the pockets on EVERY LEVEL....not just consumer level but on the legal level too. #longtermchange #truejustice #effectiveprogress #humanity #therevolutionwillbetelevised #humanrights #civilrights #equalityforall (at Toronto, Ontario)
