Why is this important? The internet would not be the wonderful place it is today without net neutrality. The ISP's are leading the charge to allow them to offer tiered access to the internet. Possible outcome could be popular sites like Tumblr would have a surcharge on bandwidth. Kinda like going over on minutes with a cell phone company. And considering Verizon and AT&T are two of the biggest groups lobbying to allow them to manhandle the internet in this way, that's not an absurd prediction.
The FCC is the commission which oversees telecomms in the US, and there is a limited window of time they'll listen to public comments on this. I implore you to educate yourself about this and tell the FCC not to allow this travesty to befall the internet, or us.
The internet does not belong to the ISPs, the internet belongs to all of us.
