One thing...stop touching.
As a Body Piercer, if i could ask one thing on behalf of all Body Piercers out there to our clients it would be. To stop touching, playing, or generally fiddling with your piercing jewellery. I get many phone calls from people concerned about their piercings. Many of which use the dreaded 'I' word, infected. Now, if i were to be given £1 for each time someone said their piercing was infected when in actual fact it was not. I would be very rich and able to afford that beautiful car that i want. Hand on heart i can honestly say, it is incredibly rare for your piercing to be truly infected. Most commonly you have torn, bruised, tilted, created granulated tissue and generally damaged your own piercing by neglecting aftercare with added constant and never ending playing with it. I digress, as i am very prone to do!
But listen to us, it would be greatly appreciated by all piercers out there. You would make us skip with joy, and bounce up and down with joy and with happy go lucky feelings!
Please be understanding. I don't repeat aftercare to every single client, provide you with well written aftercare sheets because i have nothing better to do. I do it because i genuinely care. I want your piercing to heal and look beautiful. For you to be proud of it, and for myself to be proud of it. But some days i really do feel that i might as well talk to the sink. As i feel after several years of me and the sink working with each other it might take pity on my poor soul and pay attention.
Now i do also understand that every Piercer has their own way of doing things. From piercing, jewellery onwards. But one thing i promise you dear reader is this. If you DON'T play with your piercing, even the most mediocre piercing, done by the most talentless stabber our there will heal with the least amount of complications. I am deviating again. So now i will short list this to bullet points of information. If you wish to hear more from me, or ask questions please do.
- Don't twist it, turn it, poke it, spin it, push it back wards or forwards, undo the ball or pull it out. Leave it alone means LEAVE IT ALONE!
-Changing the jewellery earlier that you were told to by your PIERCER is a silly idea.
-Changing it to a ring etc won't make that bump go away!
-Changing it to silver/gold etc etc still won't make the bump go away.
-Pouring 8 table spoons of salt into your solution won't make it work better.....it just won't. It makes EVERYTHING WORST!!!!!!
-Changing your cleaning regime because your mum's dad's sister's uncle's, brothers, best friend's dog told you too is just stupid. (sorry to be blunt) but it is. They aren't an piercer.
-I read on youtube/yahoo/wiki/google blah. Don't believe everything you read. A lot of information posted online is outdated, based on other peoples circumstances, or by people who aren't Professionals in this industry. Ask your local Professional Body Piercer. We are here to help you!
This has turned into a long winded rant rather than a informative guide which was its intention. Sorry internet world, i got carried away.
