Captain America's therapist
Therapist: Why are you here?
Steve: Half of the universe is gone because I failed. I said to a friend I didn’t know what I was going to do if I was unable to undo that failure, and that’s exactly what happened. It’s been a year, and I’m still a mess. I still wanna help people, but I don’t know how, and I basically feel like crap.
Therapist: (OMG, how do I even...?)
*Some time later*
Therapist: We’ve made a lot of progress. We’ve established you did everything within your power, and failure is a part of human experience. Enhancements and all, you’re still human, and the purpose of human life is happiness. What makes you happy?
Steve: ...
*Some time later*
Therapist: I’m glad to hear you’re finding purpose in preparing yourself to help other people, but remember that compassion fatigue was what brought you here in the first place. Be careful.
Steve: I will.
*Some time later*
Steve: I tell people to move on. Some of them do.
Therapist: But not you.
Steve: I’m starting to think that getting a life is not a bad idea. I’ve seen people doing it and... It sounds good, they seem happy.
Therapist: I’m glad to hear that. Any plans?
Steve: Not yet.
Therapist: Because it’s not like you feel you need to save the world again before doing something for yourself, right?
Steve: *smiles*
Therapist: Ok, I won’t pester you. But promise me this: if a chance of happiness presents itself, you’ll take it.
Steve:...... Ok.
*Some time later*
Therapist: *hugs patient* My boyfriend is back, my mother is back, my cat is back, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Steve: *smiles*
Therapist: There are more women, men and cats in the world now, FOR THE MOTHER OF GOD, go find someone.
Steve: But what if I tell you there is only one... and there's "a chance" as you said, but it’s... really crazy...?
Therapist: DO EEEEET.
