To Repair an Egg…
I opened a box to find my mother’s handmade Emu egg carving in pieces…
Made for her by a friend over 20 years ago. The lattice back was painstakingly carved into the egg by hand, so you can imagine my heartbreak when I found this broken in the bottom of a poorly packed cardboard box.
I refuse to leave it like this.
So I gathered as much of the shell as I could and assessed the damage in front of me.
This is going to be hard.
I’m going to go in with UV resin and do my best to put it back together. I’m also cleaning the egg of smoking tar and wiping the base. After cleaning I will replace the glitter and put a fresh felt pad on the bottom. I thought my brush had been tainted with paint after how much yellow came off everything. Cross your fingers folks, cause I don’t have the steady hands for this sheeeet….
