The egg thief of Donegal was a mysterious figure.

Every week we'd lose a batch, but look now here's the kicker.

We never saw a face, not a shred of human form.

That black hood did cover all, but we knew they had horns.

Perhaps a mask, perhaps a Goat, we never did find out.

Though every weekend without fail the children all would shout.

"Oh egg thief please hear our prayer! I want those eggs for tea!"

But the egg thief wouldn't listen. He cried, "These eggs are for me!"
