Name: Eggo-Dil
Debut: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
Okay, I know you’re all thinking it, so I’m just gonna say it. This enemy’s name does not bring daffodils to mind. It brings waffles to mind. Let’s begin.
Eggo-Dil’s Japanese name translates to “Smiley Flower”, which is a very accurate name, because this flower smiles a LOT. At first glance, it seems like it would be the most child-friendly thing in the world but... if you ask me, I think all that smiling can be unsettling!
It stays in one spot, smiling face rocking back and forth as the petals spin around, until they get launched in all directions. All the while, that smiling face stares directly at the screen... never changing... never blinking...
Those petals can be dangerous, but there is a trick! If Yoshi ground pounds near an Eggo-Dil, its petals will all fall off, and its face will shrivel up... yes, all with that dang smile! Just smiling through the pain! What are they hiding?!
This would be a good idea for a villain, actually! Imagine a game where the villain is a flower that seems friendly at first but is actually soulless and evil or something? I think I would have a good time with a game like that.
hey so i had a mental breakdown today and i calmed down by doodling yoshi’s island characters bc they’re cute and easy to draw and i enjoyed it
