I've heard from some of my friends that this school admits 100% of applicants. Is this true? I already applied for Fall 2016 and just need to get my audition, rec letters, essay, transcripts, and fees paid. I was initially interested in your design/tech BFA Theatre degree, but I think I've decided I want to go for the Acting degree (BFA in Theatre - Acting) because that is what I have the most experience with and what interests me most. Thank you for taking the time to read my questions!
It’s not true! It’s a weird rumor we’ve been fighting for a lot of years - we do not have a 100% acceptance rate. Most of our rejections happen at the portfolio/audition stage, which means a student does not technically COMPLETE their application, which means our statistics for rejection get thrown off in a really weird way.
What this means is that the students who do make it past the audition/portfolio stage have the level of artistic merit that we think would benefit others who are in a class with them - so focus on your audition, be calm, have faith in your abilities, and if you’re really freaking out, watch this video we made about how to survive your auditions. (The part about “we’re on your side” is really true, and we think a lot of students forget that when they’re headed into this process. We WANT you to go to college!)
Break a leg - and let us know how it goes! :D
